Hifi - in your situation 'video-star' and all that - must be very frustrating. I get so ticked off with these companies who advertise their service as 'all-singing-dancing', only to find that few people have it or can actually get it - regardless of what you might be paying. > BT's current TV ads are suggesting that their latest service/modem doo-dah is the bees-knees. By upgrading to their top package (due to them shouting at me for over-using my allowance on the lower (cheaper) package) I had assumed that I was going to be getting this sooper-dooper wotsit service. Not so! > It will only be when they - BT- decide to 'upgrade' and make provision through my exchange. If and when they ever do it is totally outside of my control. Meanwhile, I can just keep paying the bill, even if my service is affected at 'peak' times! Such a con! >

Chrissie - I asked the BT engineer if/when we are going to get the new zippy-whizzy-speedy service. He told me that it will be introduced in stages. At present it has been put into Crowlas and Marazion!!!!!!!!!!!! Total population almost in the negative numbers! Why not Truro or Penzance? - at least of reasonable size! I confess, I laughed.

Blakey - many thanks. I sort of assumed that I may have needed to download some kind of support tool to make it faster. I certainly notice a drop in performance late afternoon - through to about 10 at night. BT have just changed my modem to their latest version. I had hoped it might make things better - but clearly not!

Not sure if that is what it is called. But....... for example, sometimes I watch a You Tube something-or-other, and it plays continuously. At other times, it keeps stopping and - well - catching up with itself before continuing to play. I know what I mean - just hope someone else does. :-[
What do I need to set or change to get it to play continuously?

Haven't really got a clue what it is about (shame on me ), but appreciate that today - July 4th - is a celebration day for you across the water. Is this 'Thanksgiving'? - complete with Turkey and family gatherings? Whatever it is - hope you have a good one.

I too would feel a bit miffed that your kindness and honestly hadn't been acknowledged. It never ceases to amaze me how slefish/thoughtless people can be.
Four years ago, when I bought this house, I discovered that my council tax band was higher than the bungalow next door to mine - both houses identical! I was in Thailand at the time, so communication was a tad difficult - but I managed to get through to an ombudsman and present my case for getting the tax band lowered. Eventually, after weeks of paperwork being submitted, emails flying around etc. it was all sorted and mine was lowered. I could have left it there, but decided to contact my estate agent and get him to pass the information to the people from whom I bought the house. They had moved to a village 2 miles away. I had discovered that they could in fact make a retrospective claim, and I made notes as to how they should do it.
I never heard another word about it - no thank you, nothing etc. Anyway, after my return from Thailand and I moved into the house, I was talking to my neighbour. He had met up with the former owners, who had in fact followed all of my advice and put in a claim - they recedived nearly £3,000 back paid for 'overpayment'! I still haven't had a thank-you - not even when she came to the house some months afterwards to collect something that had been delivered here in error. To say I was stunned is an understatement. I was so cross, I just wish I hadn't bothered at all. As they say, 'There's nowt so queer as folk!'.

Hi Spikey - well done you! I have just passed my first year anniversary - vaping caramel, strawberry, coffee, lemon etc. Can't believe I spent even more years than you with 'tobacco'! How disgusting does that taste now? Great that you and your H have managed it together. Am looking forward to seeing your gizmos.

Well done and thanks to all of you who have signed up. I personally hold the view that these wild animals being used do not naturally want to 'perform'. Therefore, any association, circus or otherwise, cannot possibly make them do so without coercian. That became very evident to me in USA some years ago - at Sea World - when a whale wouldn't comply with the signals being given for him to do whatever was expected. The poolside 'trainers' were obviously embarassed, but went on the explain that due to the whale's failure to 'perform', he wasn't therefore going to receive his food. That is when I realised MY failure, having purchased tickets for this event - where a wild animal, incarcerated for my enjoyment, just didn't want to jump and bash balloons or whatever else he was required to do, and as a result his punishment was to be denied food. It was clear that this food wasn't an additional treat for him, but part of his dietary requirement. Thus the stance being taken by the trainers was that by being denied the food it would assure that he was hungry, and therefore it would make him 'comply'. He's a whale FFS!!!!! - why should he want to bash a balloon? Have to admit, it taught me a lot about myself - and I wasn't to impressed at what I was seeing.
