Afternoon all Going to be a kill joy & say I also hope the bad weather will dampen down the fireworks tonight. My Maine Coons aren't too phased by them but my 2 older moggies are terrified by the loud bangs:(

I don't think I've heard a firework yet this year ??? Maybe the recession is good for something Many years ago here, the back neighbours were setting off individual fireworks one at a time from the centre of their back garden high up into the air, they made a helluva racket - it was Christmas Day I think they were from "the subcontinent" but I never found out if it was a particular religion's requirement. I do hope that your Coonies won't be disturbed :-[ scylla

No Chrissie. Youre not a killjoy and I think you care for your cats like we care for our dog. She's petrified by fireworks. So much so that from last year she's on tranquilisers. We try to give them from a few days when the fireworks are set off. We've gauged it correctly. We started on Saturday and it was a few days later when we heard the first fireworks but Holly (our dog) didnt move an eyelid. She was so sedated:)

How did it go, Chrissie? I saw a couple of distant public displays from my kitchen window, the noise was muffled well by my double-glazing. Oh for my gran's back garden with potatoes in the bonfire embers and catherine wheels dodgily nailed to the clothes-post and not turning very well, and sparklers... scylla

Morning all Scylla, even though the rain stopped by mid afternoon, it was the quietest bonfire night I've ever known Just a couple of bangs & whooshes in the distance & that was it. Just hope they aren't saving them all up for the weekend.

Good morning all I was watching a few fireworks twinkling out side. I was sitting on me back door step and they were just popping about not banging They were beautiful Yesterday I started my patches. I started at 9am. I had a pack of 10 ciggies on my computer table and they lasted me all day. Usually Id have had 15-18 over the day till me bedtime. I was violently sick (pos from them) while me carer was getting me ready for bed. It helped clear the saliva stuck in my throat. I felt alot better after that and when I went to bed (at 11pm) I went of to sleep well and got up at 6a.m. I think I will try anuver today I definitely will.
