Been listening to it all on the news VM.
Whether it deters anyone from taking up the habit, or continuing with it, I guess only time will tell . . . .

Wouldn't have made any difference to me if I'd still been smoking.

Typical double standards...governments still depends on the income that tobacco brings and wont ban them.
It wouldnt have stopped me buying fags either :-[

My view remains the same as far as kids are concerned, they love forbidden fruit.
If I was still smoking, I'd just take them out of the packet and put them in a tobacco tin if the pictures bothered me, but then I used a tin anyway as I smoked roll ups. Where there's a will, there's always a way.

What a lot of rubbish!! They've failed by hiding the cigarettes away, I dont see any drop in people standing in line to buy them....... so how do they think by putting them in plain packing is going to make people stop???
Brain and no cells comes to mind!!

Thinking long term; if it deters some kids from taking it up, it will be a good thing, no? There is some research suggesting some kids are attracted by the packaging, like in so many other areas, I suppose, and the cool factor, still. Hard to believe we/me thought it was cool to commit slow suicide.

Thinking long term; if it deters some kids from taking it up, it will be a good thing, no? It can only be a good thing, if that is indeed the effect it has Farzooks . . . I see more and more young people round these parts smoking every day. Although the trend does appear to be towards roll ups I've noticed, are there plans to change the packaging on rolling tobacco I wonder? None of these re-packaging/putting behind a screen type measures, go anywhere near to helping a ' committed ' smoker. Saw a piece on BBC's 24 yesterday, a youngish chap smoking 20-25 cigs a day for the last 10 years or so. He'd tried patches, gum, spray and Zyban . . . all with no success. All I could think was, please someone give that man an ecig to try.
