Have any of you been to the Dogs Trust homing places, the nearest to me is in Bridgend and its like a hotel compared to our local RSPCA, I couldn't believe how nice it was. Just had a look, closest to me is 80 miles, not to far. Here are the dogs there - www.dogstrust.org.uk/rehoming/default.aspx?dogCentre=ILF#.UDPREallTkd Ted looks cheeky but adult only home

I got our Oscar from The Little Dog Rescue, they have fosterers who look after the dogs until they find their forever home and can therfore give you an idea of what the dog is like and whether suitable around children etc...........There are quite a few Rescue sites that do the same sort of thing.........Good luck with your search

Can't help you with your quest but you are so right about these cross breeds now going for megabucks ??? I have a Border Terrier X Border Collie, he cost £25 as he was a farmyard 'mistake' lol! God knows what they would call him now and charge for him ??? It is good that dog re-homers are careful about where the dogs go to but sometimes it does seem a bit OTT! Perhaps if you drop the 'non shredding' requirement you'll get more choice? obviouly I meant shedding but i thought I'd just leave my spelling mistake as a non shredding dog is always a good choice I agree you should see the state of my post.

It's a pity that you're not a bit closer MMF, as Holly Hedge a rescue centre close(ish) to me have some really smashing doggies . . . it's the older ones I feel so sorry for, when their owner dies and there's no one to take them on. At their time of life, they should be tucked up in a loving home, not in a rescue centre. www.hollyhedge.org.uk/vas.asp
