Attention all that like their modified cars/bikes/trucks etc! www.the-ace.org.uk/armageddon/EU interference again, I wonder if this would put custom builders out of a job?

*mumbles rather naughty words against the EU & governments* nice to see the millions upon millions we pay into the EU gets spent on improving lives and reducing poverty isn't it > I don't think it will be quite as hard hitting as people think, it might, I was privy to a VOSA newsletter which mentioned this, the 8 point system, but it was mainly covering aspects of MOT's and kit cars - guess we're just going to have to wait and see. To have them wiped out would be commercial suicide for the government who is wanting every last penny of revenue it can muster, for the estimated 220+ thousand 'basic' "on the road" modified cars in the UK - that would be an awful lot of tax and duty lost, plus manufactures, accessory shops, garages, events, advertising. They would shed several million pounds of revenue in duty in doing so. Not to mention the several million lost in economic spending. But then again, the EU and the government are stupid, and probably all want us to ride bananas on wheels and pay £1000 tax for the privilege of doing so

This is a BIG talking point on a number of car forums
But if you read into it it doesn't sound as bad as it seems.

This has being the rounds for so many years it's not funny. It would never happen because it would crucify several hundred million pound industries, exactly the opposite of what the country needs at the moment, we know it, the government knows it so it is all guff. This crops up every 2 years on the car forums, everyone panics and then it goes as quickly as it appears

I think this time it's a little more real than before. Whatever happens the hobby I love and have been doing for 20 years is slowly being eroded. :-[

Seems it's more of a go-er this time around. It just re-inforces my belief that those in offices in Brussels and Strasbourg are nothing but control-freaks who will not be happy until all of us are driving around in the same dreary cars, living the same dreary grey lives as them. A Universal Europe, the same rules and regs from one end to the next and anyone who dares to stand up/out will be smacked with a hammer.
