I've just read it as well on ECR. Apparently, it's going to cost too much money to arrange a vapefest for next year, so he's pulling out and not doing any more. I can only imagine the amount of hard graft and organising that must have gone into it, he must be absolutely shattered.

Its such a shame to see the organizers feel this way,I hope in a couple of days they look back and change their minds,I remember how my fellow site owner felt after we set out a display on at the NEC,there was a theme it was something to do with family,so he went to great lengths to spend his own money creating faces and dressing the cars like one big family,we watched children smile and point, had the organizers congratulating us,but back on the forums some people though we turned our cars into a joke...he took it hard,I took a lot of time talking to him, since he has not been the same, funny how a few boo hoo people can bring you down, when probably thier only effort was to get out of bed and expect everything to be perfect and free.........Rant over

A great weekend with great people (as usual). River spiked my drinks (as usual). Haven't got time to say much more at the moment because we're trying to catch up, but it was genuinely a pleasure to meet everybody and I hope we can do exactly the same next year. I was back in the office at about 1pm yesterday and stayed until 9pm last night, answering emails and PM's but if anyone got a garbled response, I apologise (blame River). The event was a credit to Wayne and the commitee and I think it will take a massive amount of effort and dedication for anyone to pull of something so spectacular in the future - so I really hope that they re-consider.

I've just got round to reading Wayne's post. The comments in this thread had given me the impression that he and the rest of the organisers had stepped down purely because of the negative comments, so it was a relief to read his post and discover that that's not the case. The decision seems mainly due to not wanting to pursue either of the options that would be required to run the event on a larger scale in the future.
I agree with others in hoping that they do reconsider. I, for one, would be perfectly happy to pay an entrance fee in future. I'd have happily paid one this year. Sure, it's admirable to want to run a totally free event by vapers for vapers, but I see no shame in recognising that the event will need scaling up for the future and charging a fee.
As for the negative comments: yes it was a bit cramped in the marquee with the tables in the middle, and the raffle did seem a bit top heavy, but Wayne's post on ECR makes the reasons completely understandable, and it's not like these factors were a big deal in any case. Even if each vendor had been surrounded by fifty feet of clear open space, there would still have been crowds and queuing around each one, due to the sheer number of vapers in attendance.
As for the complaints about vendors not offering discounts, what a load of old b****cks. What do people expect? 80% off a Provari? I got a free bottle of Jante juice just for walking in the door. A free bottle of DV special Vapefest juice for entering the raffle. A free bottle of juice (of my choice) for wearing an ECW shirt (which, although I paid a tenner for it, is effectively a free shirt as well, since I'll get a tenner off my next order from ECW). 2 free bottles of juice off T-Juice, and 1 free bottle off DV - all freshly mixed to order by crews of people who were slaving away at it non-stop all day long (even when the other vendors were packing up). A free sampler bottle of juice from Pink Spot (and at least one other small sampler from someone else I can't recall). A couple of free bottles of juice from the stash of goodies that Jason brought to our table. I also went to Vapist's stall, asked to try some juice, was handed a brand new sealed 306 and chrome drip tip (or maybe steel not chrome - I don't know, but a very solid item) to try the juice with, and when I bought the juice, I was told to keep the 306 and tip. And I also got the Holy Grail of freebies: a critically acclaimed 100% genuine honest-to-goodness high performance multi-functional Vape Escape Pen. .... And I'm sure I could have got more freebies if I'd tried, as there were a couple of stalls I never even got to.
