Varilux or whatever the modern name is for them you need Raggy, one pair of specs to do 3 things, although I find with the modern trend for shallow frames, you don't get a very large reading segment.
Seperate readers are the best bet there, for any concentrated time spent on close work.

the eye glass works for me as does the free hands magnifier thingy which i think i paid a couple of quid for somewhere local make sure you are resting your forearms against a bench/desk stops them shaking and have a light shining down from above you

Raggy I sympathise with you, I am the same, sometimes i car'nt see the time on my watch, But why not get some ready joined wires from the golden greek I did last weekend makes it a lot easier, Or could some dear sir make him some coils and wicks ready to pop in, I would but am not to experienced yet, If you pm me your addy i will post you 2 ready joined wires from golden greek (Free of Charge mate. hi johnboy, lovely offer but im going to persevere with the wires for a couple of weeks, i reckon 2 or 3 more and there be ok, im having more trouble wrapping them around the string but a few more and hopefully i will be getting there. thanks again really good of you to offer them. ref telling the time i now have to buy digital with the biggest numbers i can find other wise i cant see it, i even put my vdu glasses on to eat my dinner otherwise its blurred. the thing im swapping them all day long and i think that may be making them worse for distance things. raggy...........

Seperate readers are the best bet there, for any concentrated time spent on close work. i considered these vari things perpy but the rate there changing at would be to expensive, id have needed 3 lots in just over a year. when they stop getting worse i will give them a go but for the minute i will just persevere. the eye glass works for me as does the free hands magnifier thingy which i think i paid a couple of quid for somewhere local make sure you are resting your forearms against a bench/desk stops them shaking and have a light shining down from above you the eye glass will be ok for checking stuff but i couldnt work that close to my face, i think i bought the high strength ones and there too strong i guess. i will give the hands free thing a go though. raggy..........

I forgot I have given it a go, all you do is thread the wire, the resistance through one of the holes and then the no resistance through the other hole, crimp them and then run it through a flame, do the same with another crimp, other end of the resistance and other no resistance, crimp and then flame again. But if you eyes arent too good........... I suppose it wouldnt be a good idea......... sorry But if you got the magnifyer........ it might help you ???
