So I’ve got a bit of time on my hands and just thought I’d share with people my vaping story / journey so far...
I consider myself newbie and what I have written here is just my opinion and my personal experience, I have found the online vaping communities and members to be a wealth of knowledge to help me along the way so far.
So a bit of background info on me , I’m Adam I’m 28 from the North West UK , up until 2-3 months ago I smoked 30-40 cigarettes a day , I first smoked when I was 16 maybe 10 cigarettes every couple of days . As time went on this increased and I became in my opinion a heavy smoker. So earlier last year my missus quit smoking and put the suggestion to me that I should do the same.
I really gave it serious consideration and looked at the pro’s and con’s, con’s – COST, DAMAGE TO MY HEALTH etc. pro’s – I JUST THOUROUGHLY ENJOY A SMOKE. So If I’m honest to pacify her I thought how can I ‘have my cake and eat it’, after a very minimal amount of research an e-cig seemed like a good option. So off I went to a local news agent’s and picked up a disposable and started using it. This was short lived and within 24 hours I was in the shop asking for 20 of my favourite brand and the disposable was promptly binned.
So after that experience and not knowing what I know now I had a downer on e-cigs rating them as useless (Lack of research on my part I now know). So once again I was a 40-a-day man , 12 months passed and I really started thinking to myself I’ve got to pack these in , this sh*t’s going to kill me but as I said earlier I enjoy a smoke and it seemed I had very little will power .
Just by chance in June I was offered the opportunity to go and watch the F1 with my dad (non-smoker) at Silverstone and the night before I thought tomorrows the day I pack in , I’m going to be travelling for hours my dad would be pissed if I smoked in the car and I can’t really smoke whilst I’m there so this is the chance to pack in for good so that’s what I did , but it was so hard after 7 days without I thought about smoking constantly and after 14 days I was at breaking point . I got up on the Saturday morning and called up my pal who also had quit at the same time as me and it seemed he was in the same boat as me. So I started considering my options and then I remembered some guy at work earlier that week tooting on this weird looking e-cig strapped round his neck with a lanyard and him trying to tell me how awesome this e-cig was , All the time I was thinking ‘I don’t think so mate’. But at this point I was desperate and thought balls to it, £35 I’ll get one and give it a go. So off I went picked my pal up who also shared the same opinion as me of e-cigs but we both agreed we’ve got to do something or we’d start smoking again . We got to the vendor of the e-cigs in our local town and I soon identified the on the guy was smoking at work (It turned out to be the ego-t kit) the women in the shop set up a couple for us to try and briefly explained how to use it . My pal had a go first and at the point I watched him inhale soon after he was coughing away, eyes watering looking at the ego in his hand and nodding his head and I thought that’ll do for me!
So kit bought I drove home vaping away astounded how well this thing was hitting the spot and that’s where my passion for vaping began. I got home, feet up vaping my ego and started searching and signing up to forums and that’s where my passion for vaping began. I was really surprised how big of a community existed and absolutely astounded by the vast amount of products available. At this point I knew I couldn’t resist spending my hard earned on some of these devices In search of my own personal perfection PVD.
Firstly I played about with different juices trying to find what was right for me then started with the atomizers, carts, tanks etc. Next came the devices and mods.
First obviously was the EGO-T did the job never let me down, perfect for when I was at work. Then I got the EGO-C with 1.8ohm atomizers and the TWIST-C battery (still use this through the day at work) and to my tastes it kicked the arse of the EGO-T.
Also bought the SD Mini because it was cheap and tiny! Thought although it doesn’t compare to the ego it’s really handy as a spare and now lives in the glove box of my car (Just in case)
After a bit of reading I next purchased a Lava Tube, read good and bad things about them but decided ‘Why not’. To be fair I got it charged it and had a bit of a play around but mostly it sat in its box for about a month.
Then after spending a bit more time on the forums and speaking to fellow vapers it kept hearing about this fabled ‘Screwdriver’ and me being me just decided I’ve got to have one to see what the fuss was about . In not much time at all I realised getting a MKI at reasonable price would be like trying to find rocking horse poo, so I dropped on a brand new MKII kit with the 901 atomizers etc. I picked it up and couldn’t wait to fire this up. I think due to my lack of experience and being a total newbie I had expected it to be the greatest thing ever and I was very, very wrong to say I was disappointed would be a understatement with this In its out of the box state. I have since added a 901-510 adaptor and use my various atomizers etc. on it and think its fantastic, definitely a good mechanical mod.
Picked up an Indulgence and a 14500 mod box off a forum member and was suitably impressed with both, not that they get used a lot just handy to have in an emergency.
So what’s next for me on my vaping journey?? (I think it maybe an Orion or a GGTS?) I like the look of them both.
But last week I picked up a ViVi Nova and teamed with my lava tube using the 2.4ohm head it’s hitting the spot perfectly (for now).
The end result so far for me is I really enjoy vaping a lot more than smoking, I enjoy the communities I’m part of, the friends I’ve made so far. I know I’ve got so much more learn and experience in terms of vaping as I’m a newbie and I can honestly say I’m looking forward to it. It’s become much more than a means of not smoking for me, I’d say it’s become a hobby as well, that I thoroughly enjoy and without the forums, forum members, the things I’ve heard on VPLive from Kev and Russ and also Tim on RY4 and especially the Influence the reviews on ECR by Scott have had on my vaping journey so far I could of ended up a smoker again.
Some may think I’ve written a load of pap, but from a relative newbie this is just how it’s been for me pretty much and for anyone who is reading this who Is considering vaping I personally can’t recommend it highly enough and with perseverance I’m sure for most the day comes where you find as I have the perfect combo of kit that hits the spot for you and when it happens you just know!!! I think I’m addicted to vaping?.......

Brilliant post Adam. It probably mirrors the experience of 90% of us and should certainly be an inspiration to any newbies considering vaping as an option. Welcome aboard.

Yes, good post.
I am about 3 weeks behind you on the 100% vaping route and a long way behind you on the equipment, but the experiences are much the same.
I still use the eGo-C Vision and I am expecting my first twist VV tomorrow. I use tanks and Clearos, have found 3 basic flavours that I like, but am still experementing with a few others.
Still got a lot to learn but thoroughly enjoying the experience.
