Ha ha yep I think it's fair to say that we enjoy vaping around here As for it being proven to be a completely healthy alternative to smoking, nobody really know for sure at the moment as it is relatively new. Common sense tells me that it has to be safer as there are far less chemicals involved, no tar, no carbon monoxide etc! But, for confirmed smokers that have tried and failed to give up with other methods I think it has to be a great option! Most evidence of health benefits at the moment are anecdotal, but have a read around here and you'll find all sorts of comments about how much better people feel! Slowly health professionals seem to be coming round to this too As for costs, apparently you should be able to vape easily on a budget of around £10-£12 a week, so long as you don't buy every new gadget that comes along

Thanks Karma, I know it has not been proven that there are any health benefits but on a personal note, i have taken 3 Min's of my quickest cycle in to work today and that is after only a week of vaping. There you go, an anecdote to be cracking on with. £10-12 sounds good, better than the £45-50 a week I was doing on fags. Cut out the lattes in the week and I am even, bonus. Who would you go with for the liquids and do you have any tips for tobacco like liquids and a fruit alternative? Thanks again

The only tip I can give you for liquids is to buy small sample bottles at first and experiment, everyone's taste is different any that you buy that you don't like try again in a few weeks time as your taste buds can really play up when stopping smoking! Then, if you still have liquids you don't like pop them onto the classsified board for sale or swap

I'm I would not class myself as very experienced and I'm sure that everyone has their own unique story, but here is some of mine. After smoking tobacco for 19 years I switched straight onto ecigs from day one. The first week was very stressfull making sure my equipment was working and I had emergency orders coming in every day 8 ???. I wish I knew about this and other forums then, cos I was in a panic not to have to smoke real cigarettes so I panic purchased and ran up £300 in the first month. I tried every type of atty I could find and many of the standard batteries too, before settling on a lavatube and a couple of egos. I do feel better (and smug-er) than before I switched. I don't wease, or cough, and recently went for a medical and my blood pressure was down . Also my dentist as told me that my teeth are whiter and my gums healthier, which was a benefit I had not considered . Probably best of all is that my wife kisses me more - of course she used to before, but it's even better in that department too if you get my drift . And I'm allowed to vape in the house. Now I have settled down. I use tube mods with boge XXL cartomisers slotted in 3m or 5ml tanks a lot, as well as a vivi nova, but now I mainly vape on my bottom feeder (very low res atty), or use my beloved Genesis Orion 2.1. I have found my favorite eliquids which are ry4 from Hansen and another ry4 from liberty flights (perfumers apprentice or something, though quite different from Hansens). I also love my Cinnamon Danish and Ry2. I mix all my own eliquid using an iphone app to help with the calcs and bought 500ml of 50mg PG nic juice from nicvapes in USA for about £40. I buy pg from boots for £8 for 500ml and VG from supermarkets (though there has to be a cheaper more effective way of getting VG, just haven't found it yet). I buy my flavorings in bulk from china (healthcabin.com) or from other UK sites when I can buy large quantities (c100ml) cheap -still looking for a cheap supplier of Ry2 and RY4 Hansen flavorings. I vape a lot but it costs me pennies a day for my eliquid. I did a £150 order with healthcabin about 3 months ago, so I have cartomisers egos and most consumables to last another 9-18 months, especially as I'm getting into rebuildables now which are very cheap to run. The biggest problem for me, and many im sure, is how addictive vaping is psychologically. I think I just mentioned that I vape a lot (though I have cut down from 24 mg to 8mg), probably 4-6 ml a day, and I love it. How much do I spend.... Mmmmmmm. Well it's a bit like this..... You know boys (and girls, vaping is equally addictive and not gender discriminative) and their toys. The problem I have is I just want to try new and exciting vaping mods. I have just bought a second hand Provari for £100 and am currently trying to source a second hand reo mini bottom feeder. Once I have these I just have to find rebuildable attys for both. I'm sure you get the picture. What I do is I limit my expenditure to no more than I used to spend on traditional cigarettes, which for me is £100 per month and I try very hard to keep to this. If I wasn't so very weak I could vape on about £15-£20 per month, but what would be the fun in that. Anyway that kit you have found looks great. Try everything you can afford until you get the set up and juices that you love, check out Scott's videos as they are brilliant at e-cig-reviews.com, and enjoy....

Thanks Micky,
HAHA, you are very much a boy with his toys. Reading your post was like reading a thesis from a science mag to a beginner like me. Passionate about your vaping I see, that seems to be the theme on the forum, what a fantastic place for me to introduce myself to the art.
So much good advice and so friendly. I m pleased I chose to switch from the cigs for a number of reasons and one is to have come in to a forum like this one.
Hopefully I will be able to head some of your advice and guidance once I am up and vaping.
Cheers Micky

Hi ,
I packed in the stinkies about 3 weeks ago , a mate was telling about a work colleague who smoked 60 a day and switched to vaping and hadn't touched a real fag since .
I saw an ad in the paper that had the SkyCig on offer for £15 so bought one but had the same problem as you , batteries were useless and they didn't quite hit the spot , if you know what I mean but they did stop the craving .
I done abit of research and came across Vape Escape who I'd highly recommend and ordered the 1000 Ultimate Starter Kit . It arrived the following day .
It's been 3 weeks now , I did light up a stinky last week out of curiosty ( it was vile ) and although it's not quite the same as smoking the real thing it's definitely got me off the expensive stinkies with no problems .
I've tried everthing , patches , gum , nicorettes and even got the doc to put me on Champix , all to no avail /
As I see it I haven't given up smoking but have found a much cleaner way of getting my nicotine fix .
I'm using cartomisers (Boges & Kangers ) with my 1000 mah Ego's at the mo , I've tried flavoured e-liquids but found them abit sickly for my taste so I'm sticking with Vape Escape's Deluxe which is lovely ( if you do buy a starter kit get plenty of juice , 30ml lasting about a week for me ) .
Now I've got the kit I reckon it's gonna cost me no more than £15 a week ( much better than the£50+ I was spending) for carts and juice and I'm definitely feeling the benefits already , no wheezing no coughing , wife and kids alot happier not having to put up with me stinking the house out and I don't have to listen to the kids telling that I'm gonna die if don't stop smoking which is a bonus .
If you've got some spare cash it's definitely worth getting a decent kit to get started . Good Luck

Morning,
Micky, your post was very helpful and once I am up and running, ordered my kit last night hoping it will be here Friday, I will surely return to all your suggestions. I am getting stupidly excited about this, cannot wait to not have to return to the cigs with its stinkiness, expense and its obvious health dangers. I appreciate that there is no definitive answer on the health benefits of vaping but based on my week or so on the e-lite, I can already feel it.
One of the best results of smoking the e-lite is the fact that my 2 boys no longer sneer at me and they have a new found pride in their father trying to knock cigarette smoking on the head. Also 2 of my work colleagues have ordered the same kit as me, so we will have a work based connoisseurs club very soon.
Greendollar, thanks for your response. I have ordered some of the fruity type liquids and will give them a bash once the kit arrives but if I need to return to a more authentic cigarette taste i will definitely give the Vape Escape's Deluxe a bash.
Thanks again to all of you for your interest and I will post once I have had the experience of vaping.
Cheers

Mkcpapa, I've been vaping for over 4 years. I used to be a very heavy smoker - on average over 50 per day I used to get out of breath just walking up stairs. I also used to wake up in the middle of the night with my hands above my head trying to get more oxygen into my lungs I'd tried everything in the past to cut down at least, but nothing worked. Within just a few weeks of starting with my first e-cig I noticed so many changes. I could soon walk up steep hills (& there are plenty of them here in Cornwall) without having to stop to catch my breath. The savings for me have been astronomical. And apart from what you save from buying cigarettes, there are other savings - no constant decorating to try to cover the tar stained walls & woodwork

Hi Micky, I can appreacite your excitement mate. I am hoping my kit turns up today and have decided to work from home today in anticipation. I am out of refills for my e-lite now and am battling with myself as i dont particularly want to buy more with my kit due. I am sucking the life out of all my old ones at the moment, haha.

Just grab one of the batteries, put the other on charge, fill either the clearomiser or a cartomiser with eliquid & screw it onto the battery. Click the button 3 times to turn it on & hold down the button each time you take a drag Video showing you how to fill a cartomiser - Once filled, don't put the plastic bung back in, replace it with the drip tip you get with your kit.
