Its being debated to entitle people who have suffered mental health problems stand for public office & to overturn the statute which prohibits "mental defectives & idiots" standing for Parliament. Seems to me that, statute or no statute, a number of idiots have managed to stand for Parliament & get elected

They already allow psychopaths in parliment. George Osborne springs to mind. Him along with many others in the conservative cabinet.
