Chrissie, I'm more than willing to help with funding. Don't be proud. None of us would be here without you. MM

Thanks MM & thanks again to everyone else Got to admit that I just didn't expect the 50,000 page views limit to happen in less than a month. Lol, with the hits we are getting at the moment, especially due to the thread on eBay seller central, I reckon we could run out of the credits I've paid for even more quickly. That SC thread has had 3782 views! But so happy to see some new folks have given e-cigs a try due to it - can hardly wait to see how FDLL (Mecanno) gets on with his e-cig

We could set up standing orders to pay into your bank account, then you can retain control.
But I wonder if "bots" are responsible for the high hits? If so, they should be banned, grrr.
I don't understand them, of course, they may not register in that way for all I know.

Scylla, last summer, a hacker tried to flood the ECF with connects, then had the nerve to demand a payment for him to stop. Fortunately, the resident ECF programmer was able to block him.

Scylla, I'm not at all bothered about retaining control Just don't want the forum to be funded by vendors so we don't become affiliated & feel indebted to them & end up recommending them for that reason. (No offence to our lovely James' offer). As for the bots, we can't ban them . From a couple of other Proboards I've belonged to, they only got 2 or 3 bots per day. They register as guests but I doubt (but may be wrong) that they add to the page views that much. The bots will be picking up on certain key words - bit like an eBay search.

Jerry, once again, I take my hat off to ECF & how well it is run. I've seen major attacks on eBay forums/groups & it's taken them forever to sort it out & put a stop to it

Chrissie, have you made the board Ad-free for guests as well as registered members? If not, just make it Ad-free for registered members only, that way the page views should be far less. I did take a look in Admin but can't view the Ad-free details other than 'Purchase.' Anyone can purchase credits for the forum and they will appear in the Admin section. These credits can be stored and used anytime. Be sure never to buy 'Ad-free' when 'into' a particular month as they will only be valid until the end of the month. It's best to apply the credits on the first of each month. Once purchased/applied it should only take a few moments for the ads to disappear. Fox
