First day back at work today Was a nightmare getting out of bed this morning. But at least I could have a sneaky vape in the loo, though I was mortified in case I set the fire alarm off, would be sacked on the spot! There is no smoking OR vaping allowed anywhere on site and if you work on shift you can't leave site for 12 hours not even during your breaks > Not a good day yesterday, had to say goodbye to Barney our old schnauzer, he was 17 years old He went off his legs and though he could wander around when you picked him back up he wasn't stable. He was a grumpy old sod and I have more bite scars from him than any other dog ever, but it wasn't his fault he was a rescue and had obviously been beaten to the point where he would snap at any sudden movements around him even by people he knew well. oh im so sorry to hear about your dog passing away, horrible when it happens isn't it? Don't talk to me about work, its not my favourite place at the moment. Guess all you (and me) can do is keep smiling, and hope things get better soon!

Thanks guys....as sad at it was to see him go we know that for the many years he lived here with us he had his own pack of canine buddies and didn't get beaten. He lived to be a grand old age and went with dignity even at the end lifting his lip at the vet nurse! Barney is the fourth dog we have lost in as many years and we have several more oldies here The worst part of owning pets. This is a photo of Barney and little Twix who we lost a couple of years ago at 14 years old, they were the best of friends, together again now. twixbarney by UKSpitzy, on Flickr

Oh pam am so sorry to hear about barney :-( can't imagine losing either of my two, had dogs growing up and was gutted when they passed but these two are first with.my partner and the first that have been mine instead of mums. Will absolutely break me. That said being a rat owner.I've lost about 30 in the past few years and each of them (some more than others) have left an unfillable hole. After losing silly millie my last one i swore that was it for me ,BUT have had to have an enforced break and now desperate for more. I guess what I'm trying to say in My own rambling way is barney will be forever.loved and forever missed but in time the memories will be happy again. As a big supporter of rescuing animals (sprite is the first specifically bred dog or cat I've ever had even while growing up and there was a reason for getting her [do competitive obedience and after working with tizer who loves it but will nevet go far bless him as we started too late and he has foibles from his previous life we wanted a blank slate to learn with]) even the dodger, both cats and most of MY previous rats were rescue.I know what a difference a happy end to their life can make so well done you and hold onto how happy you made him.
