Hi folks, as a recent convert to vaping i'm needing a bit of help from you more experienced campaigners I quit smoking 5 weeks ago now and started vaping with the SKYCIG after seeing a discount coupon in a national newspaper. It was fine to start with and kept any cravings at bay. After a week or so though it was starting to annoy me how often i had to recharge the batteries......... and also the fact that you have to suck like a Dyson to get a decent draw out of it! A bit of googling led me to this site so i signed up and dived right in as i usually do After making my n00by thread i was pointing in the direction of a Riva 1100 kit........ whoa, mind blowing Finally an e-cig that i could get a decent draw and throat hit out of, absolutely love it and the fact the kit has two batteries is a massive plus! I carry one in my pocket at work all day and its fantastic, keeps me puffing away happy and contented Now, onto my questions/issues. I've noticed that a lot of ejuices dont have the same kick/throat hit as others and some seem to produce far less vapour than others (same nic content). I'm guessing if i had a VV battery then i'd be able to crank up the power and get a better vape out of those ones? With that in mind i've been doing a bit of window shopping........... the Provari seems to be the top dog on the market as far as VV goes but the price is........ lets say a little on the steep side for something i'm unsure of as yet. Next couple that caught my eye were the Lavatube V4 and the Ego Twist. The Ego Twist is about half the price as far as i can see but the Lavatube does seem to be a better piece of kit and pretty decent value for money. I'm also wondering if i should be looking more at devices such as the Penelope! Watched some reviews of it and it looks like a fab piece of kit, and once built seems to last far longer than these carts and clearos i'm currently using. Sorry to go on and on......... as the title suggests theres just so many choices for a relative n00b vaper Opinions and suggestions welcome, thanks

Throat hit is dependant on a number of things, nic content, PG or VG content and flavourings can actually affect it. Cranking up the voltage wont necessarily give a better throat hit, in some cases it can but some juices just have little or no throat hit. The ego twist is a good piece of kit at a great price, its a good inexpensive way to see if VV is for you.

I'm currently on my first VV and can definitely say it's worth a go, I decided on the Ego-C Twist just because £25 for a 1000mah battery (that I can charge using my Riva charger) is a drop in the ocean. I heartily recommend VV, and although I love my Riva kit for what it's opened my eyes to, I wish I'd started with a Ego VV Kit instead.

Goofy it's always great to read about someone really enjoying their kit. I have a provari and Penelope and wouldn't trade them for the world. BUT... I got to them via more 'lowly' mods and delivery systems and I believe the learning experience I got from those properly prepared me for the high-end stuff.
I know we all love to see people aquire the shineys and there is an argument that as most serious vapers will end up with a P/P why not go straight there and save the time and expense. My two pence worth would be to move up to a twist and get to understand voltage and ohms and watts before taking the big leap.

Thanks for the input chaps, very much appreciated! As FirinBlanks has posted, at £25 the Ego-C Twist seems like the logical next step for me.......... so looks like thats the direction i shall take I ordered a couple of Vivi novas yesterday (V1s in a clearance sale), any opinions on them guys?

If I remember correctly there was a problem with the early novas in that the centre pin was too long, resulting in the centre post of batteries being pushed in. Check them before you put them on a battery and if there's more than a mm of centre pin sticking out the bottom file it down before screwing them on

I really like vivis...they come 2nd place for me, after direct dripping (boge cartos are 3rd)
as for the lavatube - i got one...don't like it much - it's an ugly, clunky mother of a PV, the button aint great, and what's more, mine has gone kaput...
if you don't wanna go VV yet, could always try having a variety of resistance atomizers, certain ones to suit certain juices..
but the ego twist is pretty decent .... sort of....mine broke after a couple of months, battery got stuck
and vaping sposed to work out cheaper than smoking...tut
another option is buying a good solid mod like a bolt or a bombshell, or whatever's sposed to be good, and adding a kick to it...

They are loads better than visions, hold more, don't leak, can be re-wicked/coiled, so no need to buy extra heads, win win

Performance in equipment is one thing, but like anything else, a setup is only as trong as its weakest component, i look for performance in my liquids as much as the kit i put it through, im quite fortunate in that i own some really good equipment (provari, penelope, kicked ggts and DiD, also a hellfire mega.) this stuff really has brought a few juices to life in the flavour department as im sure a few members here will testify. But as i said at the start i look for performance in an eliquid, if its got great flavor then thats a bonus, im a big diy fan always trying and enjoying new flavours for the most part. Its taken me 2 months of what must be over 100 different liquids and tastes, the only liquids so far ive found that truly perform are 'Halo', man those guys know how to create a liquid, i initially bought a 7 flavour sample pack from a store in Ireland, and to be frank, i really wasnt impressed, left them all in a cupboard and put all of my effort into diy. Thats where i done the right thing, leaving them in the cupboard for upwards of a month brought those babies to life, Torque 56, Prime 15, Freedom juice etc all lost their initial chemical undertones and no longer left me in diabetic shock when i tried them, SERIOUS throat hit that leaves you reeling in pure pleasure and some amazing tastes to go along with it, i urge you to pay a little over the odds and get some of this liquid heaven, go read reviews, but i MUST stress, DO NOT vape for at least 2 weeks, more if you can, then come tell me how right i was. Amazing juice.
Skwoddy out.
