Lots/most of us continued smoking for a while when we first started vaping

Personally, I liked smoking and had no real intention to stop, but I knew it was affecting my health so thought that vaping would be a great way to cut down on the ciggies a bit. after a few weeks, once I'd got the hang of my kit and some e-juice that I liked I just found that I didn't want to smoke anymore

One of the best things about e-cigs is that you are under no pressure at all - just use it as an alternative to smoking

amazing advice thanks everyone, I don't particularly want to give up smoking but I do hate the smell, the ashtrays, and teeth and gum problems.........I wouldn't mind going to the dentist if it wasn't for the "you really need to give up smoking you are losing your back teeth" I dread it! I actually really enjoy smoking! but think this is a far better way of doing it, I love the idea that you possibly won't want to smoke normal cigs anymore after vaping, I hadn't realised that......brill! I went from straights to rollies about a year ago and the first few weeks I really missed straights and now I really can't smoke them anymore so I guess it's the same thing.

Han I'd definitely go with the Riva. If you find you're too self-conscious to use it out and about there are mini ego batteries available, including some pretty patterned ones, that your clearos and cartos will fit onto

It is similar Hans, changing to e-cigs is a tad like changing brands/types of ciggies.

Yes, it really is similar. I'm an ex rollie gal

and you have my sympathy about the teeth/gum problems. I lost a back tooth due to smoking related gum disease a couple of years ago. I really tried my hardest to quit after that using patches, 8 miserable weeks later I was back on the rollies resigning myself to possibly loosing more teeth

thanks so much everyone I am feeling really positive about this now:) I am going to email Jason and ask when he will be likely to get the riva 1100 in stainless and I think I will see how it looks then perhaps get the mini ego battery as oneday suggested and then I will be back to pick your brains on e-liquid! should I start a new thread to ask about liquid or just continue here?

You can continue here or start a new thread Han, entirely up to you be aware though, it's much more difficult to recommend liquid as taste is so subjective. Buy small sample sized bottles in the beginning until you settle on your own preferences

Han,DONT feel that you will look ridiculous.Be PROUD that youre kicking the tobacco and be even more PROUD you have become a Vaper.I find that when im seen vaping on the LT Or ZMAX it starts a conversation about stopping smoking and Vaping.Just think how ridiculous a smoker looks with a stinking,burning stick in his gob,stood out in the cold and rain,while you sit snug as a bug with a beer in hand in the warm.

Karma, I totally get the teeth thing and resigning yourself to losing them, when my dentist told me I was going to lose back teeth, I really thought that would be the push I needed to quit, but after inhalators, patches and not enough will power I gave up giving up and accepted my gummy future lol! bloody smoking!

Han I know only too well about the teeth,I have spent all weekend with an abscess and a couple of trips to A&E,I curse that vaping wasn't available when I was 20 years younger,I have only chewed food in the right side of my mouth courtesy of a bridge,for the last couple of years,but the left side is about to loose 2 more teeth,that will be two molars top and two on the bottom,I am going to be looking at false teeth soon,not nice at 50 years old,but I smoked for around 30 years,I happily vape in public now with a large mod,which I felt awkward about when I first started too and had a small ciggalike as well as my egos,today if someone sees me with my vaping stuff in public and it starts a conversation about vaping that could help them,I am glad as I work in a college and it hurts to see how many youngsters smoke
