I believe the latest Windows OS has a built in unzipper. I've used WinZip for years and I think you can still get a free trial download from www.download.com

I'm using a free Winrar from years ago - it's a trial version that nags me on startup but is easily ignored. I only use it for .rar anyway and only once in a blue moon, so I never felt inclined to pay. Mine is ver 3.60 beta1, but the later versions might work ok Here's a site with old versions of various software www.oldapps.com/winrar.php

I also use 7zip. Can't fault it at all.

Winrar is fine (with the nag) but sometimes you need to extract instead of cut'n'paste, 7 is the best option

My winrar extracts fine, to directory or file, rebuilds longer files (like movies, out of dozens of smaller rars) and is very well behaved.
