It makes me think of someone staring slack-jawed into space - a cross between 'vacant' and 'gaping'. Yep, sums me up! Hello, welcome & erm.....happy vaping!

welcome dan, I am also a fellow skycig user, tho only when out and about, I have yet to throw away a carto, I have been refilling since my 2nd week of using e-cigs, it's much cheaper than buying cartos from skycig, and so many more flavours to choose from

I definitely find a proportion of Skycig carts not lasting as long as others and I’m beginning to think that the nicotine hit is starting to decline well before the vapour stops hitting the throat satisfyingly. Also I went for ‘regular’ nicotine and I’m thinking that mostly that is enough but sometimes I need a better hit which is maybe why I’m still on 3-4 smokes a day.
I'm looking at tobacco flavoured juice from Vapology and am struggling to get my head around nicotine levels. Looking around the Web it is appears that there is no clear correlation between nicotine content of Vapour and carcinogen delivery systems, so I guess I’m going to have order different strengths and work it out through trial and error.
However I’d be interested to know if, in your experience, the nicotine level of the mix affects the flavour?

Not so much the flavour but definately the throat hit, before I found vaping I smoked Marly lights, but I smoked each one really quickly taking multiple draws on them (trying to suck up as much as I could). When I started vaping I was at the 16mg stage BUT after a while I hit a bit of a low point with vaping what I had and it was suggested I upped the nicotine. Now I have 20mg for during the day and 24mg at night, if I'm honest I prefer 24mg because it definately ticks all the boxes for me. Since Nicotine is neither a Carcinogen nor has been proved to cause any other side effects I'm not that bothered about the level, I'm more worried about what my body needs and feeding that amount to it. This is of course what is good for me, it's better to have a play to see what your body needs, all I know is that whatever nic you need it's much better than resorting back to ciggies

3 weeks in and still can't get off that last 2 or 3 cancer sticks per day, but I will in time. Looks like I won't be sticking with Skycigs though. I felt that some of the cartridges weren't lasting as long as they should and it seems I was right. I didn't monitor it properly as I hadn't really got a sense of how long they should last but I've become certain since I started re-filling them. About 50% just don't work when re-filled. At first I thought I was doing something wrong so I started re-filling them in batches and it is definitely the case that I then throw about half of the newly filled ones away. On the other hand the ones that did work can be repeatedly and reliably re-filled. As I often have one hanging out of my mouth (as I always have done with ordinary cigs) and the extra weight means I'm gripping them with my teeth, it's become clear that the ones which won't refill are also the ones with no teeth marks on so they must have failed soon after purchase. Just thought this might help if anyone is like me and thinks they may have a problem with Skycigs carts but isn't sure. Plus the batteries are breaking down with monotonous regularity, and replacing them really is expensive. I ordered my third set of 2 a couple of days ago (and now I wish I hadn't ). All of which is leading to me looking for alternatives - I'm not so stuck on them looking like cigs now and am trying to decide what else I can try. I'm not asking for advice here because I'm reading it in many other threads but I still find it confusing. Because they have to be bought online I find it hard to understand the differences etc. - it would be good to find a high-street outlet where I could see what's on offer in the flesh. I wondered whether some of the more experienced members could possibly create a sticky giving an idiot's guide to the different types of kit out there. Or maybe just a glossary, including abbreviations (what is a PV btw?). Anyway - there's always YouTube.....

Hi Dan, and #welcome2# I gave up the stinkies about 5 weeks ago, and it was the best thing I've done for a long time. I have stuck with my eGo batteries and rebuildable Vision Clearomisers, and they do the job for me now! I tried a roll-up about 5 days in and stubbed it out after 4 drags, it tasted horrible. I was smoking about 20 rollies a day, and had been smoking for over 35 years!! Keep at it, and ask away if or when you need more help

Hi Dan A PV is a Personal Vapouriser - in other words anything that will vapourise your juice for you. As far as what to spend your hard earned cash on - I'm sure there will be as many different answers to this as there are forum members, but here's my contribution to get discussions underway! First, the battery - go for an eGo batt, preferably a Joyetech (the original manufacturer). The eGo range of batteries all have a 510 fitting, which makes them compatible with a huge range of atomisers ('attys') and tank storage systems. The batteries come in various sizes and MaH (this is the capacity of the battery - the higher the number the more power it will store). The basic eGo will be 650maH, and they go up to I believe 1300maH. The higher numbers simply last longer between charges. Have a look here to see what choices are available www.vapeescape.co.uk/search.asp?types=Vaping+Spares+%3E+Batteries+%26+PassthroughsThere will be some discussion I'm sure on whether to go for an eGo 'Twist' or not. The Twist allows you to change the voltage of the battery by twisting the base plate. A higher voltage enables you to burn the atomiser at a higher temperature, giving more vapour and Throat Hit (TH). Personally, I have resisted the temptation to go down the Twist route, sometimes called Variable Voltage (VV) so far, but may consider this in the future. So that's the power side of things; next question, what do you use to store/burn the juice? I use Clearomisers made by a company called Vision (beware - not all gear called Vision is actually made by the company, there are some copies being sold as such!). The Clearomiser (clearo) is essentially a tank which holds about 1.5ml of juice, and also has an atty head to vaoupise the juice. Some are life-limited (you chuck the whole thing away when the atty goes after a couple of weeks), some are rebuildable/replacable (the two words seem to be interchangeable!). The replacable ones means that you only have to replace the atty head at a cost of £2.50, rather than the whole clearo at around £6. They are also easy to wash out and dry between different flavours of juice. Another option is the Cartomiser (carto) which hold about 1ml of juice, and sit on the top of your battery. You may prefer to get something called a drip-tip to insert into the top of the carto to make it more comfortable. See here for a range of cartos www.vapeescape.co.uk/search.asp?types=Vaping+Spares+%3E+CartomisersThe stared ohm rating is around 2ohm (Standard Resistance = SR) - lowering the ohm rating will again give a hotter burn and more vapour and TH (the principle here is less resistance = more volts allowed to reach the atty, hence the increased burn). Finally, there are carto tanks like the ViVi Nova and Mini Nova www.vapeescape.co.uk/search.asp?types=Vaping+Spares+%3E+Tanks+%26+AccessoriesThese are juice storage systems with an atty inside to do the burning, which again can be replaced cheaply. The advantages here is the capacity of the tanks as well as the low cost of replacement parts. All of the systems above will be a huge improvement on what you have already, and a quick internet search will give you various options for a starter kit which ticks all the boxes. Here are just a few to give you an idea of what's available: Vision eGo starter kit - Liberty Flights www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?id=180Enjuice 510 Carto kit - www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?id=180Microcig starter kit with clearos - health-e-vape - www.health-e-vape.co.uk/microcig-ego-ce4v3-titanium-coil-double-starter-kit-900-mah--2-battery-4023-p.aspCE5 Clearo kit - eXhale - www.exhalecigarette.co.uk/product-p/ece5sk.htmUsually the higher the price, the more you get. Batteries are the most expensive component, and it's worth having at least 2 so one can be charging while the other is being used. Consider also buying a spare charger, spare clearos and atty heads, and a good choice of juices. Once you are all set up with gear, you should only be spending about £15/wk on juice with an atty head thrown in every second week. This is of course entirely dependent on your juice consumption. I hope this helps you a bit, if you have any more queries, fire away! I'm sure there will be more advice on the way. Right off for a kayak up the Fal river!!
