My taste buds have went wonky

Hi all,

I have been spending a lot of time reading various posts and there seems to be a lot of people who have problems with their taste buds and can't really taste anything.

My problem is a bit different, I really think my taste buds have turned at bit wonky.

I bought a caramel juice which arrived yesterday and I started vaping it this morning. All I could taste was burnt sugar, almost like home made toffee that has stuck to the bottom of the pan. My husband thought it just tasted like caramel so the juice is fine.

I have now moved onto Chocolate Caramel which tastes like, broccoli (I kid you not!) and again hubby says it's fine!

Is this just a passing phase as broccoli juice isn't that nice to be honest.

(As part of my previous order from a different vendor I had loads of things and only really liked the blueberry and menthol. I also had orange and ginger which tasted of nothing to me so it's a bit frustrating).

It's quite common Gillian and although frustrating it doesn't last long.

Look on the bright side - where else would you have got to taste broccoli juice?

Are these juices you're used to? That you've had before? Giving up smoking/vaping can do weird things to your taste buds, they can vanish (like mine have tonight ) and they can also go super sensitive, or they can make you taste things differently, I'm still convinced a certain juice has biscuit flavour in when I'm assured it doesn't....

I've just started experimenting with the juices as we had Skycigs to start with and just got our Riva's last week so each flavour is a new experience.

We started vaping just under 3 weeks ago and had a small amount of tobacco left so had our last nasty 8 days ago (apart from 3 I found in the bathroom drawer and sneaked on Monday and Tuesday last week ) so it's all very new to us.

Gillian, out of interest - how do these juices smell to you?

It's still early days for both of you and your taste buds, try some different flavours and go back to that one another time

I have had a sniff at the chocolate caramel one and I can smell a cocoa powder smell and no broccoli!

Actually, I have just been thinking, I have just been sitting watching the tele with a bag of sour cream & chive pretzels and an onion and garlic dip.

I'll bet that's what the problem is, trying to vape something sweet when I'm stinking of garlic, onions and chives!!!!

I better switch to menthol and try again tomorrow.

Try licking a tiny drop off your finger - it won't harm you but it may give you hope that your buds haven't gone for good

I daresay you've nailed the reason & I hope you get back to normal tomorrow. I wish I'd had that excuse when I tried the Reeses peanut butter cup flavour though.

I've been having this issue too. I bought some juices and when I vaped them, to me they didn't taste anything like the name suggested. I hate coconut (with an all consuming passion!) and all I could taste in both of them was coconut, and it drove me mad as i'd really been looking forward to trying them. I ended up swapping them for a coffee flavour with someone else, and the coffee flavour doesn't taste like coffee to me either, it's got a weird perfume taste to it....oh well, i'll just keep at it, trying different flavours until I find ones I like, or until my taste buds decide to start playing the game.

Let's just face it guys - some juices are pants. Or at least they are pants to certain individuals.

I tried a juice once that was sposed to be a honey-ish tobacco and all I got was an overpowering taste of carrots.

Keep trying new flavours, Gillian, and sooner or later you'll hit on a handful which make you as happy as chocolate and cigarettes and orgasms.

I have had this happen a few times,but happily its only lasted 2 days or so.I do try to swap flaovurs so i dont sort of get used to it.
