My husband has decided to stop smoking but wants some help from an e-cig. He has very little time to do the research so has asked me to look into it. I am confused as there are so many products available.
He smokes only 3-4 per day, silk cut lights.
What is a suitable product to start with??
Any help will be appreciated many thanks!!

Welcome to our group and thanks for choosing us. Having said that, I'm a bit flummoxed because the e-cig kit I was thinking of seems to have had a price hike - and as hubby smokes so very lightly he won't find the initial outlay a "drop in the ocean" like we chain-smokers did Don't panic! During the day tomorrow lots of other members will surf up suggestions for you. The following is a basic manual* e-cig kit from a reliable supplier @ £26.50 + P&P for the TAWA option. www.mojurepublic.com/products/Janty-Dura-510-Starter-Kit.html*Manual means you press a button to activate the battery - there are plenty of "auto" models available too, where your act of puffing activates the battery - but we all seem to graduate to manual sooner or later. *TAWA = atomisers which don't carry a warranty; the ones that do are much more expensive. You will need to buy some extras soon: (1) E-liquid ("juice") of a strength and flavour to suit; (2) Vegetable glycerine ("VG") to weaken the juice already in the cartridges that come with the kit; it also increases the vapour production; (3) A bit of stuffing for when the existing wears out. Notes: (2) VG is very cheaply available on your supermarket's baking ingredients shelf or in the chemist; (3) The stuffing in the cartridges is like fish-tank filter material and that can be substituted, although someone here might have a bit they can send you, as hubby wouldn't want to buy a load (unless he has a fish tank ). If you went ahead and bought the above kit you wouldn't go far wrong because it does have 2 atomisers in it and many starter kits only have one. But I'd wait for more responses here tomorrow. Oh! and... scylla

Hello & welcome from myself also Rko . . . . that looks like a great link Scylla has posted . . . other than that your hubby will need some ejuice. With our favourite supplier on holiday, I'd use Liberty Flights - as he is such a light smoker I'd go for 14mg or 18mg ejuice, if you use this code at chekout, you'll also get a 15% discount - ECR69 www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?id=73They also have a 510 starter kit that would be good value using the discount code. www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?id=47

Hello. I thought the battery life on those sort of e-cigs were quite bad. Saying that though as he is such a light smoker it prob wouldn't matter. I would go for the Riva over them though...

Hello & welcome from me Rko Lisa, as Rko's hubby is such a light smoker, I'm fairly certain the 510 batteries should last him a day or 2 before needing to be recharged However, here is a link to the Riva if Rko wants to check it out : - www.liberty-flights.co.uk/product.asp?id=78

The Riva is the first model my mind flies to, but I thought that, for starters, a lower-end, more ciggy-like model would be best for such a light smoker. Secretly I'm wondering if hubby might eventually graduate to chain-vaping a GGTS scylla

Yay! A chance to repay a very small amount of the advice I've received here! Vaping is a very confusing world when you first step into it but the lovely people here will guide you well. Your hubby will be vaping his little heart out in no time at all! I've used VapeKandy twice now and found them to be very quick. The kits in the links are limited stock (apparently) but they do come with quite strong juice so but you also get to choose a small sample of your prefered flavour and strength. They only come with one atomiser but I'm still using mine after over a month. www.vapekandy.com/#/limited-stock-offer-1/4545060754 £24.99 + P&P www.vapekandy.com/#/limited-stock-offer-2/4545094519HTH... Good luck! Sean

You guys are great! I have a starting point now so thank you so much!
Does a strong juice mean that the flavour will be stronger, or that the nicotine effect will be more powerful? And why cant I just buy a weaker juice instead of using vegetable glycerine?
Are there any side effects of vaping?

Yes, you can buy juices with lower nicotine content. The highest ones that most vendors sell are about 36mg & they go right down to 0mg.
I think Scylla mainly mentioned adding VG in case you found the nicotine content too high of whichever juice you choose. Cutting juice with vg does also make it go further & creates more vapour, however, it does also reduce the flavour.
I've been vaping for 2 & half years & not had any side effects at all.

The only side effects I've had are all positive Rko. With juice, you're best off to begin with, buying hubby several small 5ml bottles of flavours that appeal - so he can try them out and go from there.

I would also say get a little bottle of a menthol liquid too because after a feast of flavours a nice minty freshness seems very satisfying. But I am a new vaper and love menthol anyway so this might be rubbish advice :0)

I'm not normally a fan of minty smokes but your idea is a good one, Wotsit - I have found the odd vape of menthol or similar is very refreshing. And it's a flavour I can taste when I can't taste anything else. scylla

Yeah you kinda know where you are with a mint. Sometimes these new flavours can take a bit of getting use to before you know what they are meant to taste like. I dont mean they are nasty but rather how the flavour translates to e liquid :0)

You are so right Wotsit re how the flavours translate to e-liquid. The only mint I've tried was James' spearmint & that is 100% what it tasted like

Thanks everyone! Hubby has decided he wants a 'realistic' looking and sized e-cig...which of the products mentioned will fulfil this? I dont think he is into the flavoured variety (although sounds yummy to me lol)
I think I need to order today or tomorrow before he thinks I have given up on him!!
