if it helps,i was a heavy smoker for 30 odd years, last 3 yrs i tried giving up 3 times with patches gum etc longest was 10 months but never stopped wanting 1 and like you,thought 1 wont hurt and started again!
but i took the plunge and tried vaping 5 weeks ago to cut down but found it so good im not wanting a fag/rollie at all and stopped completely,and i live with 2 smokers!(they politely go outside)
would recomend a good kit not a cheap ecig throwaway,lots here more experienced here than me to help you choose

Thank you again for the welcome, this is the first site I have been on that gives loads of encouragement to a newbie. Once I have my hubby with me on this I think it will be easier, at the moment I am fighting the demons and its hard. When we both stopped for 6 months and only restarted a month ago we laughed at friends who where constantly coughing when they smoked because we where so proud of kicking the habit, as we found out it just took one thing to trigger the habit again. With the help of fellow vapourers I am hopeful this time we can do it, there are more and more people around us vaporing even ex chain smokers so that's a good sign for the future governments allowing.

Sure you'll soon get hubby aboard. I started out on the mini cigs, it was actually a look-a-like one that I bought for my OH but he didn't want to know with that. It was only when I got a bigger kit, bit like the Riva 1100 kit from Vapeescape (sorry don't know how to post links yet :-[ ) & he could see the e-liquid that he really took it on board. Nearly 2 months in neither of us have looked back since

Edit: well maybe a couple of little glances over the shoulder, but no major u-turns.
