Got my new vivi nova a week back, cleaned it every other day as I have been playing around with juices. Anyway today's morning clean went a bit wrong and I ended up pulling the wicks off the head. No problem I though I have a load of spear heads with wicks and 2 which came free with the Vivi. So I changed the head with the 2.8 ohm one from the box
All day it's been tasting really bad, a plastic kind of taste, gives a sore throat hit every vape, and just tastes really bad. I have tried every voltage on my Lava Tube but it's stil the same
I've now got so pi**ed off with it I washed out the tank again and have thrown away the head I put on this morning. I have some more replacement ones at my office stil in the sealed package so I will try one of them tomorrow.
Anyone got any ideas though?

What did you clean your Vivi with? I'm assuming the wicks are wet enough? Is this a new juice you have in it or one you have used before?

Cleaned with warm water The new head/wick was put on, tank filled and left for 10 mins and swirled around. Same juice I have used before.

It can only be the head/wick I think. Just hope a new one tomorrow will work better. Had a bad vape taste day today, shame as I was really enjoying the vivi nova till this happened. I did notice that when putting the top cap back on the nova it was pushing the top silicon head down a lot onto the wick, could this have been the problem with the plastic bad taste? it wasn't a burnt taste just a not very nice taste which hit the throat bad. I tried to cut a little bit off the silicon tube but ended up making a mess of it so threw it all away including the wick. I started actually thinking of cigs and should I just go back to them, at the end of the day you buy a packet, light one up smoke it and that's it not hassle.... But it's not what I want to do really Also spent a hell of a lot of money on my set ups this last month, i want it all to work out for the best really....

The problem with all mass produced stuff is that it is variable in quality and sometimes needs a bit of faffing When the Vivi is good it is very good............ The heads do vary I find though, but they are usually at least OK. I do find with a new one that it does need some juice through it before it is at its best and you can get a bit of a funky taste to start with (Probably because I cannot be bothered to wash them before I use them!). The other thing I'd say is that I personally always dry things off thoroughly after washing them - that way there is no danger of shorting and you don't dilute the taste of your juice.

Dave just beat me to it but the first time I put a new head on my mini I got a weird /funky taste for a little while, closest thing I could compare it to was paraffin . I did post a thread on it about a week ago & Swoddy came back & said they can taste funky as well so not just us, I think it's what the silica wick gets treated with. I have seen some youtube vids were people were just running lightly over new wick with a lighter before using it. To be safe with mine I washed the other new heads before I used them & if there was any residue / taste it's gone now You could try taking off the silicon cap & putting some juice directly on the coil of a new head & firing it up a few times before you vape see if that burns it off. But totally agree nothing worse then contaminated juice

All good again I took one of the sealed package, washed it, then dried it and dry burned it I put on the old silicon top from my first one, filled it up, let it sit for 10 mins and away it goes, no bad taste

....you shouldn't really need to dry burn a new head? I never have anyway. What I do do, with the Visions and Novas, is to drip juice on the wick / coil, and then drip down the wick before full assembly, also a bit of juice on the threads too to get a really good seal. Less sitting time and more vaping time

It's still not tasting right with the 2.8ohm Atomiser Head The one which the Vivi Nova came with was a 2.4ohm Atomiser Head and that tasted great Is there really a huge difference between a 2.8ohm Atomiser Head and a 2.4ohm Atomiser Head? I don't see why there should be.

There could indeed be a huge difference between these two heads - I always check the resistance of things and the Vivi heads can be wildly different from their specs. When they are out, I have found they are usually significantly higher than they should be.

I currently have a "2.4" Ohm head on at the moment which is actually checking in at 2.8 Ohms.
If I remember correctly the 2.8 Ohm wicks are made of one very thick wick with a smaller one wound together where the 2.4s are made of smaller strands combined. Personally I prefer the taste of juice with the thicker wick of the 2.8s.
edited to make a bit more sense.

Interesting and a shame too, as I ordered a load of the 2.8 replacement heads and if this is what they are all like then i am not happy.
Next plan is to use one of the 2.4 heads I have on a spear Vivi and see if it's any better for me. If it is then I know I like the 2.4 heads better and then order some of them.
