Found out something interesting about this today. It appears to have RMS and AVE mode. If you press the minus or plus button for over 10 seconds it shows Mode 1 or Mode 2. The VV or VW mode has a different way of switching. Dont really have any way of testing, dont have a scope etc, but this has to have the same chip in it, too many similarities.

The RMS samples the output Voltage repeatedly while it is powering an atomizer or cartomizer and is more accurate.

Vavg (wildhog mode) will vary the output, so if you dial in say 8 watts you may get 11 or 7.

The v1 vamo only had wildhog (avg) mode.

Set it to RMS and you`ll be fine (apparently)

If you google the HD review of the vamo by Scott (igecha69) he says that he cannot tell the difference anyway.

RMS is root mean square calculation and ave is average.

Pulse width modulated (PWM) devices output voltages similar to alternating current (AC). Power for AC currents is calculated using RMS, which is the area under the graph of the sinusoidal waveform.

A very simplistic calculation for PWM would be, if you set the voltage to 3 volts and switch on the device for 10 seconds, it will give you 6 volts for 5 seconds of that time and and zero volts for 5 seconds. This is called 50% duty cycle and is giving you the same experience as a 3 volt DC over that time period. But this is very simplistic and PWM is much more complex.

So the RMS calculation must be used to determine the equivalent power over a given time period for PWM devices and your Vamo display will be more accurate under RMS mode.

Under average mode if you set it to 3 volts it will give you an equivalent of 3.9 volts experience.

If you adjust to taste and are not too bothered by the display, I guess you could use it in any mode you like. If you would like for the display to be reasonably accurate, then set it to RMS mode. But then the point of having a display is kinda lost.
