I know what you mean.. However, I notice your banner says you've not smoked for one month and 5 days. a 20-a-day smoker on full priced tailor made fags will have spent £245 in 35 days. If you were doing it for £126 or whatever it says, you had a good system! I spent the best part of £200 setting myself up over 4 months or so. I was spending £1.50-£2.00 a day on hand-rolling tobacco and paper/filters. So, I'm yet to break even. Current total, have 6 batteries, 2 chargers, a PCC, 20 carts of so (blank/empty) 20 filled carts, 120ml of juice. If I can stop buying hardware and use the juices, I reckon Christmas might be the turning point.

There seems to be a period of time during which you need to spend more that you would have done on tobacco, papers, filters etc. (in my case) before you have accumulated sufficient gear to future-proof yourself. After that, it is a matter of buying juice and the odd replaceable atty head. I use eGo-T batteries, rebuildable clearos and have 2 chargers, 3 batteries, 4 clearos (one still in its packaging), and 3 spare atty heads. I know this is a small size kit, but it will keep me going for another month before I need hardware replacements anyway. I've just bought 80ml of juice and hope this will keep me going for about 3 weeks, plus the stuff I already have means that I will not need to buy anything else until December. That means my total weekly cost this month will be in the region of £7, more than half less than I would have spent on tobacco. That's a result, but better than that my health is improving and I'm on the way to becoming an ex-smoker, which is the best thing of all. As has been previously mentioned, do what's best for YOU, and try not to get tempted by the shinys. If money was a bottomless pit, I would be using Novas on a Lavatube at least, maybe even a Provari, but I'm getting the nic I need using a much cheaper set of kit, so I'm quite content!

I guess when we stop buying stuff I have spent double what I would have spent on tobacco so far in my vaping journey but I now have a nice collection of vaping gear, and spares and spares for my spares and gallons of various flavour juices. I probably have enough kit and juice to last me many months without making a purchase but those pesky vendors will insist on telling us all about special offers and new flavours I have made a solemn vow not to buy anything else until I get paid at the end of this month and so far so good When its a bargain you dont need it ?

I suppose it depends a lot on how heavy a smoker you were! I was a 50 a day smoker so was wasting nearly £100 a week on ciggies.......... since starting vaping i've bought a fair bit of hardware plus lots of different juices and i now mix my own as well, i'm noticing huge savings already and have only been vaping about 9 weeks or so If i'd still have been smoking during that time i'd have spent close to a grand As it is i haven't spent that amount and i have a Provari, 2 Rivas, a Twist, 5 vivi novas, a few clearos, a phoenix, a penelope......... and various other bits and bobs to show for it, not to mention loads of flavourings and liquids to keep me going for at least a few months without buying again

If you're just vaping for the Nicotine. Only vaping what you need. You will save.
However, for a lot of people it becomes a bit of a hobby. It has for me too. It's not a bad thing it's even helped with my depression because I can keep my mind active on other things. I can watch videos, live shows like vapourtrails which I look forward to every night it's on. These forums especially are a way for me to wind down at night and relax. It's fantastic.

Vaping is as expensive, or cheap as you make it... You don't need that nice shiny, nor do you need another bottle of exotic juice to add to the 50 in your cupboard... but it is nice, and if you can afford it, and you want to, then why not buy nice things? You have given up a very expensive habbit, and improved your health and quality of life in doing so, you deserve to be able to treat yourself. Personally I'm going for the cheap as possible option at the minute, because I am treating myself and my family in other ways with the money I'm saving

Yes, I like the hobby side of vaping too.
Okay, it did not start as a hobby or even an interest. It was purely a way of getting nicotine on the cheap and the health advantage only came about as I read up on it a bit more.
But gradually, through the internet and then AAEC, I became aware of other parts of vaping like rebuilding components and mixing my own juices.
I haven't yet tried any rebuilds and I have not had a lot of successes with some of the fancier cartomisers than many members use, but I am dabbling my toes into the mixing bit and thoroughly enjoying my new found hobby that gives me so much pleasure without causing any upset to anyone around me. And there are not many hobbies nowadays that doesn't interfere with someone else in our close proximity.

Yep, in about 2 more months for you, i.e. 3 months in, which is where I am at now. I hope to stay ahead. My batteries should last over a year, my attys over 6 months, my nic & PG & VG about 3 months, my current favourite taste about 10 mins. But flavours are cheap. The spend side of my vaping journey looks like this Main spend: Week 1- Lousy cig-alike kit Week 2 juice, carts Week 3 510 cig-alike kit, good tobacco juice Weeks 6&7 – batteries, juice Week 9 – tin mod, novas Week 11 mini novas, coffe/choc juices Week 13 coil, wick, mixing stuff, 10 flavours, nic, PG, VG Attachments:

I must say, I am more than a little bemused by my reactions towards Vaping.
In 3 and a bit months I have given more time and effort towards this than I did towards cigarettes in 50 years of smoking.
I guess that smoking and buying them was just too easy. Whe I started smoking, very corner shop sold fags in anything from Singles to Tins with all sorts in between.
Perhaps, hopefully, in time E-cigs and their accessories will become equally easily obtainable.
