Whichever way it is set up I think reviews should be kept short simple and to the point as opposed to a long essay and perhaps a star system or points out of ten to make for easy refference. Dave

I'm now looking into the DIY mixing side of things, and hope to get a starter kit in a week or so, my main interest is in the fruits & sweets, so having it by flavour category seems to make sense to me

If we decided on a list of flavouring genre's as that seems to be the most popular choice currently, then it wouldn't take long for a couple of us to start the threads.
Once set up, it would be easy enough to branch out a thread, if we felt that the flavourings being reviewed warranted their own.
Short and snappy reviews would be good as well, most mixers I'd imagine would like to have a gauge of the particular strength, whether it's a stand alone or is best with other flavours . . . and how authentic that flavour is when vaped.

Here's the list of Flavouring Categories I've thought of, for our shiny new sub board which Chrissie has kindly created for us. Do these sound ok? Too many/too little? Tobacco Fruit Drinks - Non Alcoholic Drinks - Alcoholic Chocolate and Vanilla Coffee Sweet and Candy Shop Dessert, Cake and Pudding Menthol and Mint Nutty Speciality Savoury and Sour Spice & Floral We can always tweak/expand as we go along of course, it will be a flexible feast of Flavouring reviews I'd imagine.

Excellent. Am going to go ahead now and set up the threads, ready for the influx of reviews. Thought I'd do a little intro to the sub board as well, if it seems OTT . . . then please do say. Things in my head, don't always work so well in practice, so I won't be offended.

I put this in a PM to Perps and she has asked me to post it here: Just a quick post about the new section with the odd suggestion. Would it be better to have each review as a separate post within each sub section as opposed to what is happening now. I think it might get a bit jumbled. If you have a look at how Planet of the Vapes have done it, that is more how I envisioned it. www.planetofthevapes.co.uk/forums....entrate-ReviewsI feel it looks a bit tidier and easier to find a particular review if each is a separate topic. Just a suggestion, what do you think?

I'd agree Roger, I think Chrissie will have to set up a completely separate Board, disabling the main board coding to do that. So we'd just have a board of sub forums.
Whether that will be more doable when the new Proboard version is launched, I'm not sure.
Be interested to hear others thoughts as well . . . .

Im all for this.
But we must all remember that one persons delicious flavour is`nt the same as another persons.
In reviewing a particular flavour. A guide on the strength would be useful. Especially if it can be compared to others in same category.
EG: F/Arts vanilla, very strong and only 5% needed per mix. CCW Vanilla, quite mild in comparison and you need 15% for the flavour to come through.
I havent tried either brands, but just giving my thoughts on how to judge by strength, amount to use, not a take on the actual flavour.

Strength is subjective as well though Brian, would be my observation . . . as well as flavour. I find very few concentrates to be strong, that's my taste buds . . . or lack of. So I'm putting that additional ' advice ' on the little reviews I'm doing, if I ever do say a flavour is strong/intense, then you can rest assured it is.

The sub board is in it's infancy, I'm sure it will evolve/improve as members come up with suggestions and/or improvements.

But at least we will all have an idea of what amount to use Perps.
If say, you use CCW lime flavour, and usually add 20% to your mix.
Then someone says; Ive found this new flavour house, Tried their lime flavour, and its twice as strong as CCW Lime. Then at least you know to try it at a lower %age.
For instance. Ive made contact with a company who sell 100% natural flavourings. They only supply bona-fide businesses. Ive dropped them an email, explaining about our mixology forum, and for information on ingredients, pricing etc.
Whether they are interested in supplying small quantities is something they will have to decide. But if they do, and I buy some, I can at least make comparisons with the flavours I already have. Or alternatively, find someone who has, say, tried Farts strawberry, and send them a small sample to make a comparison.
A perfect "mixer" for making judgements on flavour strengths and intensity would be yourself, or Froggie. IMHO.
