Just to jump on this thread, where is the best place to get pre-joined wire? For the Odysseus/Penelope did you mean Tom? Esmokeguru or Clouds of Vapor will probably be the places to look at, now we don't have a UK GG Vendor. In all honesty, it's ever so easy to twist the res/non res together . . . even I can do it. What is a roundish kind of figure in time that say a middle of the road atty would last, before it would need a recoil again. Welcome to the forum Mybad . . . it's not easy to give a definitive answer to that, as much of the longevity will depend on what juices you use as some will gunk up the coil considerably quicker than others . . . and what voltages you enjoy vaping at. Personally, I'm not a serial coil builder, so I use them until they go pop or become unpleasant to vape with . . . anything from a few days, to a few weeks. For me

The vivi novas dont seem to require nonres wire, I havnt re coiled one yet tho, also it seems alot of the shops dont sell the non res wire but wires.co.uk has 99%+ pure silver wire which I assume is for non res, might need to pick up some soon. I think with regards to the wick, the thicker ones like 2.5mm 3mm and 3.5mm might do better on the vivi nova or on quite a few devices where ur using long wicks, some devices with thin wicks seem to do better when they are quite short like bottom coil ones. At least thats what it seems so far for me, i have some vivis with thick wick and it vapes nice but some with maybe 4 or 5 strands of 1mm with the coild around 3 or 4 and an extra one as the flavour wick and it doesnt seem to vape great, those wicks are much shorter too which might make some difference. I assume theyre all silica too. Gonna go for the stainless steel 400 or 500 mesh too at some point I found also with the vivi tank that they come with very loosely wrapped coil and kept getting a burnt taste, eventually examined the coil when heating and the part no where near the coil but still part of the resistance wire was gettin red hot so i think the burning is from that, so I guess its a good thing to watch out for

looks good, nice walkthrough Des, do u find that the wider wicks are better than the smaller ones like 1mm? I guess in theory they should both be similar, maybe i'll try untwining the wicks and put them together somehow, I'm getting very dry hits off those standard heads with the 4 or 5 1mm ones

If you're getting dry hits it might be that the wick is getting constricted by the rubber cap, you can cut a couple of little notches in it where it goes over the wick to ensure this does not happen. I have done this several times and it works for me if I'm getting dry hits.

Sweet, will try this out, yea i remebered on my old vivi v1 or stone tank (not sure which one it is) it had quite a thin wick, or maybe just a few small strands and didnt wick too badly so i'll try making some notches.

If you're getting a few dry hits it's probably not the wire. It took me over 2 weeks to learn how to rewick the nova properly.... I like the wick from cloud 9 though others like cotton wick. Tis upto you. Cotton wick you can't afford to get dry though (and you have to have it untreated - and boil it - argh too much fuss!!!. If I wanted that I'd get a VH genesis). I get the 2mm and just use one strand. I also find the wire from here perfectly fine though a little difficult to undo once you first get it. If not you could try this site and get the 32swg or like try the 42swg...don't go for anything lower than 32swg.... Also for dry hits try washing it out or bicarbing it (one tsp of bicarb in boiling water for 2 hours - just boil the kettle - pop boiling water in with bicarb, pop wicks in - done ) and that helps as well and wetting the wire when you've rewicked it with juice and also the bit where it goes into the atomiser... That's what I do and I have no probs now Jane

Sweet, thanks for the links, gonna have to try out a few things then! If only the vivi tank was as simple as the vivi nova, looks like witht eh vivi tank i'll need some no res wire and a good way to attatch them, I think i read u can just twist it round the wire a bit, but the stock one has some gold looking attatchment. I'll stick with the vivia nova for now tho, easier to fill up too as u dont hav to stick a syringe into hole the wick goes into and risk messing the wick up a bit Yea seems the stainless mesh might b easier to work with than sorting out the cotton wick, gona try that some day, would need to get one of those high powered lighters tho and to make sure its oxidised, seems the shopping list is endless heh
