Hi saphire
I think A1 has a higher temperature rating than D but doubt you would notice a difference when using for vaping

There are three types mainly used in e-cigs..
Kanthal A1 Kanthal A Kanthal D
all with slightly different temperature ratings and resistivity. But the differences are marginal and all are suitable for e-cig coils..
Kanthal is different to Nichrome in that Kanthal contains no nickel..

THank you so much Brian I never thought of looking on ebay. There is also a listing for 5 metres of a1 for £2.50, much better.

You wont find a lot of Kanthal A now as its been replaced by A1. Most people use A1. But the difference is only a 100 degs and we dont heat it that high. I use D right now. Its just the same in my Genies as my A1 was..
Just buy A1 or D. Whatever you can get really. MM
