Argh kubuntu

I need help from an expert surely we have one on here. I've just been given a pc with kubuntu on it by my dad who has the attitude of work it out yourself! I've not a clue there's certain programmes I want to download and install but don't know how and can't figure it out. Anyone who can help me??

What version is it and what do you wish to install? You might find it already has the programs you're wanting

Don't know but I can update to 12. Something........I want dark table and gimp I know how to open the code box thing f4 and type kdesudo ./ blah blah enter then password but it's not working.

KMenu → Graphics → Gimp - it should be on there

As for Darktable, if you've downloaded it.........

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmjdebruijn/darktable-release
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install darktable

hope that helps, a little bemused by lack of gimp though, sorry I can't be of more help, I don't have a machine with it on

Thanks Tim I'm still a little confused lol but will have another go at it tomorrow trying those commands I'm assuming I just type exactly what you've written?

Yep, although you should be able to point and click with your mouse and get it installed

I would rather do that lol I've never used Linux before but wanted dark table for my other halfs bussiness. Got a lovely Alienware pc off my daddy with a kubuntu disc and got told 'install it' then 'you'll work it out!' erm no dad I don't get it!

Ive got windows lol the Linux is the 2nd pc at my desk now.......plus you can't get dark table for microsoft its mac or Linux/unix and all that.

Finally got sorted swapped kubuntu for ubuntu and weeehhaayyy its working and I've got the software downloaded I need.
