Takes some getting used to but feels faster. Google windows 8 keyboard short cuts that really helps out with things

It only uses what you can afford in RAM and you can shut down apps by grabbing the top bar and dragging the window down or ALT+F4. Although grabbing the top of the Window can be a flaky like trying to trigger the right hand Charms overlay.

I'm terrible for always wanting the latest gadgy type thing. Hubby is happy just making his plastic models and I'm the one in our house screaming at the PC and threatening it with a hammer because I can't get the latest "in thing" to work But I am resisting win8 on my PC because from what I've read it works best on either tablets or touch monitors. I also worry about programme compatibility because I use the PC almost exclusively for design. So In answer to the question, it really depends on what you want it for and how au fait you are with the type of OS. It's basically win7 under the bonnet anyway, but with a more confusing desktop set up

Its actually the best of both worlds. You can still use it in desktop mode as well as modern.
