Think I read in the news that they are getting fined for not answering the phones, obviously too busy picking on the christmas shoppers.

Customs really needs a big shake up, it seems there's no rhyme nor reason to what they do. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask. Its not Customs who are making these charges, only import VAT and duty if it is applicable. This is worked out automatically when the declaration is sent. If the agent uses the wrong info, then you get charged VAT/DUTY. The amount of people in the Airfreight clearance industry that do not know what they are doing in this country is disturbing to be honest. Its the Customs Agents that rob you blind, to be honest £13.50 is pretty cheap for a clearance. The usual charge for the actual Clearance usual LHR agents charge approx £35.00 to £55.00 per entry. Then they rob you with handling fees etc. Import VAT should not have been charged if the product was sent out for repair and return to the UK. Its been cleared using the incorrect proceedure code. Its the Customs Agent (ie//DHL etc) that have messed up here. I would contact the Clearance agent and tell them they have entered this incorrectly and this product is being returned after repair. If you want help with this, I can point you in the right direction as I have spent 18 years in the clearance industry robbing innocent Companies blind! EDIT: That goes to both womble and baconandeggs Just send me a PM and Ill help you get the VAT back.

Yay! Got it back.
Thanks DB and thanks for the pm, but Carl from Vapist vapourisers has already said he will pay me back for the customs charges as he had it sent directly to me. I have advised him of your kind offer though, thankyou for that. I suspect someone at Provape needs to send fixed items in a different way.
