base juice?

Im new so please make allowances lol. I have been looking into mixing diy. Basically you need a base,some pg or vg and flavouring. My newbie question is......... as the base is already pre-mixed at different strengths [nic and pg/vg], i assume for obvious reasons that it is illegal to buy pure nicotine . What is the max strength permissible? I have read so much tonight on diy mixing that my brain is shutting down. ???

Personally I don't think there's much benefit in buying stronger than 52mg unless it makes a significant difference to the shipping charge or you are buying several years supply and need to think about storage.

It's not a lot cheaper per mg of nic to buy stronger, and 52mg is safer to work with.

You can buy with either PG or VG or a mix if you shop around. It does make a difference when you are planning your PG/VG mix. I buy with a PG base because I vape mostly PG and I suspect PG base is thinner and thus easier to work with.

In my opinion, there are a number of benefits, including:-

The higher the % of Nic in the base liquid, the less of it you have to use in a mix.

The less base you use, the greater %age variations in PG/VG additions can be allowed for (more flexability).

The cost to purchase is a bit more up front, but works out less per ml of final juice, you can make more juice and it will work out cheaper.

If purchasing from abroad you get more bang for your buck when you buy say 75mg as opposed to 50mg, the shipping is still the same amount.

VG base is thicker than PG so you can add distilled or de-ionised water to thin to your preference, (distilled or de-ionised water is the cheapest component of a mix).

Frogster, you are a demi-god here. For mere mortals things may be a little different. We do things like, for instance, push too hard on our syringe because VG is so damn slow to go through our 14 gauge needle, blast the needle off the syringe, and squirt the liquid all over ourselves - and better for our health and our pocket if its 50mg not 75mg. (Yes, we should have thinned the VG first, have better needles and better brains, but..)

So I don't think that the odd few pence discount on price per mg is worth it. The water thing after all depends on your desired PG/VG ratio, not on how much of the VG came in the bottle with the nic or in a VG bottle from Tescos.

You are right of course about buying from abroad, and also if you don't know whether or not you might want to make juices that are mostly VG or mostly PG.

there is pure nic available, well 99.9% pure. But as others have said unless you're a juice vendor it's not that much use at home really.
