Thanks 4madcats. Not quite so sure that it's a good idea me getting one now, I just wanted it to give me an idea of where the fault is in my wooden mod but I dont think I've got the brains or patience to learn about what it all means !!

Ohh no, can just about use mine to test new coils, & can use it to test batteries, but for anything like you want I think you need someone far more technically minded then me . . . which wouldn't be hard

Thanks Gordy thats very kind of you, now that video makes it much easier for me to understand and I dont feel quite so daunted by it now. So now its back to my original question is there a particular make that I should get ? Also which uk vendors sell them please ?

Thanks again Gordy. There is a maplins near me so I'll be taking a trip there tomorrow before the F1 starts. I'll be the one trying very hard to look as if she knows a lot more than just one end of a battery from the other !

no problem hun the safest way to test you bosq is to pop the multimeter to the ohms setting (far right on the switch) and then put one probe up where the battery goes touching the contact and the other probe on the atty connector positive pin then press the bosq button and see if there is any continuity another way would be to pop a battery in, set the multimeter to Volts and place one probe on the positive pin and one on the outer thread of the atty connector MAKE SURE THEY DONT TOUCH OR BRIDGE THE + OR - CAUSING A SHORT and then hit the bosq button to see what voltage if any you have coming out ..btw you will need three hands for this method
