Blunting needles

Hiya I'm sure one of you will have the answer to my question. I have easy access to a ready supply of needles and syringes but the needles I can get are sharp. Do you think I could blunt them? Was thinking snipping the point off with some sort of tool?

Yep it's not arrived yet! And you can't get them over here so asked for some to be brought back with you in mind! I work in a gp surgery so like your missus I can slip them home in my bag.....'how did they get there?!' ask your mrs if she fancies writing a wound care essay for me lol

That's a coincidence. OH works in forensics/ prison work. He was looking into the drug selling thing...... but not inside the jail

Alcohol swabs are great for cleaning connections on batteries and chargers and good for keeping drip tips hygienic. they have use by dates on them

So if anyone knows any nurses etc, get them to pick up the ood alcohol swabs for you

Don't use cutters you will just crush the needle. Use a Stanley knife. Put the needle on a hard surface, that you don't mind damaging use stanley knife and roll, it need a bit of pressure and several rolls. You will create a score that can be snapped off with pliers, then use a file, fine glass paper or an emery board to smooth the end and take of any burrs (sharp bits).

I use cutters then use the long nose pliers to get the hole back just be careful them ends can fly anywhere i wrap my end of needle in a bit of tissue before cutting so i can dispose of safely
