Just remebered I saw from flavourart some data about a test they did with smokers and vapours regarding the 2nd hand smoke/vapour - They concluded the amount of nicotine in the atmosophere after vaping was statistically irrelevant compared to smokers. They even said the vapers' were using higher nicotine content than the smokers in that test.
I can't find the document but there a load of them at their site
clearstream.flavourart.it/site/?cat=15&lang=enMight try and track it down in a bit though.
I think one thign they pointed out is when you vape, you basically inhale all the vapour and hardly any escapes, where as when you smoke, the cigarette is constantly giving off smoke, maybe many cigarettes worth of smoke in between each inhale can be wasted depending on the way you are smoking.
Also I think that the delivery mechanism of pg/vapour rather than smoke might mean it is absorbed into the body much easier. They say pg makes the body absorb chemicals, products etc much easier.
I think I read that if you had a drop of pg with nicotine on skin itll absorb within seconds, though I can't remember if it was all the nicotine straight away or not.
I'm sure there might be contrary studis found but one thing they cannot claim is that before and after each puff of the ecig, there is no vapour going off into the atmosphere, so its doubtful they can claim flavourart's findings are completely wrong.
I think regarding the topic of considering to still be a smoker. Its obviously up to you what you want to consider it. If you're talking to other vapourers then most will consider themself to be vapour(ers), if you are with smokers then they might consider you to have quit smoking, however if you are vaping with them then maybe you can still consider yourself to be amongst the "smokers" in some way, I mean there is no temptation to smoke a cigarette with them as in most cases you are more than satisfied with vaping instead. You might find the smoke a bit irritating however
If you are with people who have never smoked then they may consider you to be "smoking" or maybe they consider you are "trying to quit" - maybe the more educated will consider you have quit "and will quit vaping one day".
With people who have just quit by not using vaping, they may consider it still "smoking" or are still addicted to the nicotine. I think this can happen when peope quit addictions sometimes - you go against that thing you were addicted to and everything surrounding it in a way, so there might alays be that challenge convincing them about the differences if thats what you wanted to do.
The fact is, when they finally educate everyone about the extremely low problems from consuming just nicotine, then the part about being addicted to it becomes irrelevant, I mean we are addicted to water and food basically
I think the reason some smokers try vaping and it doesnt work for them is they might feel pressued to switch, or they don't have a good experience regarding flavour, th, vapour etc. Thats why the cig-a-likes can be bad in some way as they don't always perform too well: bad battery life meaning they not dependable, bad flavour which can put anyone off, small carts that dont last long (same problem as the battery, however costs also come into it).
The cig-a-likes can be a good stepping stone though and have helped people switch over and stick with those for ages even.
Lastly you can always bring out the "some vegetables contains nicotine" argument, always a favourite
