I'd love to know how Roy is getting on. I've had visions of him tooting away (presumably in an HGV) happy as a sandboy to not be smoking.... Fingers crossed for you Roy.

Hi folks, thanks for the interest, well had a last fag last night about 5 30pm and not long after fired up the e go using gold and silver tobacco flavour juice 18mg and was very pleasantly surprised it was really nice, trouble was I think I liked it too much and vaped quite a lot and it ended up giving me a headache Had a 4am start this morning to go to Middlesboro so it was up at 3, cup of coffee and instead of a fag another vape and off to work I went, now it was my intention to stop smoking all together but just in case it went pear shaped I did have some remaining fags left and I'm afraid at around 10 in the morning had to have a fag, it was not because I was craving nicotine I just felt really weird and uncomfortable and the fag took that horrible feeling away. Anyway first day, and through the day I had 2 more fags so 3 today after 34 years of 20 a day is unbelievable for me, no nicotine cravings at all, but I say I feel really strange, my throat feels a bit tickly and my chest feels funny (can't really explain the feeling. just different) but all good, it will just take a bit of getting used to after all these years of fags. I had to change flavours part way through the day as the gold and silver seemed to be getting a bit sickly sweet so changed to a silk cut flavour but yes, all in all success up to now

To me it sounds like you are doing so well Roy #icon_thumbsup# Don't worry about vaping too much, but do make sure you increase your liquid intake as that will hopefully stop the headaches. Some of the symptoms you are experiencing could just be due to you almost stopping smoking. However, there is a small chance that you have an allergy to either PG or VG. So itcould be a good idea to try & sample different mixes to see if that helps Also, don't worry about having a ciggie, especially at this early stage - count the ones you don't smoke, not the ones you do

Well done Roy Don't worry about the odd ciggie Your chest and throat will just be getting used to not having to deal with all the smoke, so will feel a bit 'funny'!

Hi Roy ,
I ordered the Vision 1000 kit from Jason at VE after trying the SkyCig , that was 4 months ago , same as you I smoked 20 Marlboro a day , one of my batteries has packed in but the others going strong . I recommend you try some of the Kanger LR Horizontal Coil cartomisers next time you order some juice , I found them to be much better than the clearomisers that come with the kit . After 4 months off the fags all I can say is that vapings nothing like smoking but it takes that craving away and to keep at it until you find a juice or two that you like , it might take awhile but it'll be worth it

Roy, that sounds really good. I found the first fag(s) of the day the hardest to stop. I vaped for weeks and weeks starting the day with 2 or 3 (not chained b.t.w. ) and strong coffee (as ever). Even these days, I sit on the back doorstep vaping away and it amazes me I don't get cravings for smoking at all. Last night, bored of the rather airy draw on an e-cig I rolled one up just for old times sake.....grimmmm

Welcome Roy. For the best thing about vaping is that I no longer wake up every morning just to have a fag never had withdrawal symptoms but now crave all things sweet, never had much sweet stuff prior to stopping so I have put weight on,but I don't care I can get rid of that you can't get rid of bad lungs. # #

Well it's been just over a week now and I can't believe how easy it's been. The first day was a bit wobbly but after that it's been fine. I had 2 fags on sunday then 1 on monday, then from tuesday onwards no fags at all, just vaping now and what an enjoyable experience it is.
I have been experimenting with different flavours and strengths, still not found the holy grail yet but fun trying. I found that the 18mg was a touch too strong so I ordered some 8mg, which was too weak, now i am mixing them together which seems about right ???
When I smoked I was smoking 20 Marlboro lights a day but only smoked about half of the fag and put it out so it's been a bit hit and miss with the strength.
I haven't had the coughing fits/black gunge yet (sorry) and the only thing I am disappointed about is I still have not got my sense of taste back, I hope all the rest of the newbies are coping as well as I am so let me know

Well done Roy #icon_bravo#
It will take a while for you to get your sense of taste back & in fact there is a good chance your taste buds will play silly boogers for a while.

Taste could take a long time, took me ages to notice. As for the lungs self-cleaning. Your "cilia" will take time to get back to normal, they regenerate almost as soon as you stop, but months rather than weeks is a guess. You might not get a period of coughing and de-gunking, so much depends on how bad they were. I never had a smokers cough, I've not noticed anything grim coming up, nothing at all except better breathing and, as we know improved lung capacity. I don't know how to catagorise a heavy smoker, but 40 full-strength fags a day is going to leave lungs in a much worse state than 20 low(er) tar....and presumably have a bearing on the time-scale of recovery/improvement.... ???

You are right there Chrissie, for example, today what little sense of taste that I did have has disappeared completely djsvapour,I know what you mean, I have never had a smokers cough either

Roy - I'm sure all the other vapers reading this will agree that some days your taste buds are really quite sensitive, and on other days they go AWOL and nothing tastes as it should. Sounds as though you had one of those! Mine are gradually recovering after 35+ years of smoking, and I'm also noticing improved lung capacity and have spent the last week washing all my jumpers and tops to get rid of the stale tobacco smell. It's great! Keep up the good work, and let us know how your search for the holy grail is coming on too Andy
