Facebookers, Please help - lost dog in Norfolk

Dear All,

Please help by spreading this across the country if you have Facebook - see the email and pics below. Due to issues with my work, I don't have a Facebook account. My sister, Alison, has lost one of her dogs and is very distressed. Also, it has highlighted the issue that vets don't routinely scan a dog that is brought in to them to be registered if it doesn't look like the dog isn't a stray.

Whilst he has been lost in Norfolk, he may be anywhere in the country if he's been stolen. He is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. He can't be bred as he's been neutered.

I know there are many dog lovers here so please help and spread the word. Also, help us to change this practice of not scanning... and finally, please look after your pets. I'd hate for any of you to go through what my sister is dealing with at the moment.

Dear Friends,
Some of you may already have heard that our dog Harvey went missing on 6th December from Burnley Hall Estate Fields, West Somerton, near to Horsey in Norfolk. It has been 12 days now and, apart from a possible sighting along the coast at Sea Palling, we have no other word. Harvey is microchipped and tattooed and had a collar and tag on when he went missing so if he has been found I really thought I would have heard by now.

I went onto Radio Norfolk today to publicise his loss and also to highlight my findings that vets DO NOT routinely scan for microchips when a new animal is brought in to be registered. You can listen to a recording of the interview here www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p012rs6g
This means that if the animal is not thought to be stray or lost (i.e. in the event that a stolen dog has been sold on in good faith and now has a new owner) the fact that he has been microchipped and reported as lost would not be discovered.

I would, therefore, as you to do a couple of things for me:

2. Go to the website www.vetsgetscanning.co.uk - read it and sign the online petition to help get this discussion to the forefront of people's minds.
