I know it's ridiculous but there in the back of my mind .... I know when I was younger I used to panic at UFO reports, major disasters, threat of nuclear war and the book about the old couple, when the wind blows I think it was called. Also couldn't watch only fools and horses, the one with the nuclear shelter , very odd I know but there we are, so whilst the rational part of me knows it won't happen, the irrational part is having a meltdown , sorry for sharing thank god its not just me Beauty !!!! I am keeping the kids close by tomorrow for that just in case, my worst fear is not being with my loved ones I know it won't happen but its that what if . when I was a kid I was terrified of the end of the world Chernobyl frightened me silly I thought everything would melt with acid rain and also when the wind blows did not help. Although the fears have subsided over the years the inbuilt programming of my childhood still spooks me :,-( Sent from my Nexus 7 using proboards

no one would believe in the years of the 21st century, that human affairs were being watched from the timeless worlds of space. No one could have dreamed we were being scrutinized, as someone with a microscope studies creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. Few men even considered the possibility of life on other planets and yet, across the gulf of space, minds immeasurably superior to ours regarded this Earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely, they drew their plans against us

I'm board so I guess I'll join in on this one. From what I've read and watched over the last 4 years. the Mayan calendar is more perfect than the calendar used in the old world and accounts for the 1/4 day in the solar year so it rules out the whole "leap year" thing.
Not only that, but the Mayans were impeccable in their abilities to predict and account for various stellar occurrences. They built a huge empire based off of their recordings, and lived there for a long time; long enough to know that their calculations in stellar occurrences were correct. They also had the ability to notice these subtle changes in the sky with arcane equipment, almost as well as we can in today.
The thing is, the Mayans disappeared. An entire civilization just vanished (or more likely were wiped out by war or plague) The calendar we all speak about wouldn't have been made in a day, or a year, it would have been a continuous project which stopped the day the Mayans disappeared. Simple really.
The thing we should all be a little worried about is the 15/02/2013 60 meter (or 197 feet) asteroid possible impact...

I love war of the worlds! Just bought my oh the musical on DVD for Xmas! I've got the new (and old) sound track and the 2005 movie which really does not do the original any justice but hey, that's Hollywood for ya. I might see if I can hint my way into getting the musical on DVD/BR for Christmas lol
