I was turned down for a promotion once and the reason given was that they wanted an older lady with experience that comes with age.
When I said I had been in the job longer and the lady who got the position was only a year older than me, the reply was "yes but you don't look it"

I actually think I was turned down because of my disability, but of course I could have sued them for that!
