Well not quite yet - but..... It's over 4 years old & has hardly ever had a days holiday. The keyboard is starting to play up - hence even more typos than usual Fairly certain that due to that pattern of non functioning keys it's not down to the usual crisp/biscuit crumbs or cat hairs. Instead everything is just getting worn out ( I know the feeling ) Battery died a few months back so I just keep it permanently plugged into the mains, So it's about time ..... .... & also about time that Aldi got some Medion lappies in on their "specials",

((( Chrissie's lappy )))
Can only go by what my PC chap has said in the past and he reckons if you get up to 5 years from a laptop, you've done ok.
Seems terribly wasteful, but that seems to be the way.

For simple Internet use, get yourself an IPad Chriisie, pet and crumb friendly and easy to use Nice and portable too. Easier than a laptop IMO that is. Edit: And the new one is better and thinner...but does that matter

If you spend a little you would still be able to keep all the data in your old notebook..
I think you can try to make your laptop hdd as an external HD..

Thanks folks Think I'll be sticking with going for another Medion laptop from Aldi though. The free 3 year no quibble warranty means you know you will get a minimum of 3 years use out of it

As a part time pc builder anything is fixable, the keyboard overlay just needs removing and cleaning. Formatting a computer will make It run as fast as it did the day it was bought, belive me I've fixed 1000s in my spare time as it's my hobby. Medion isn't the best of makes and I would always recommend dell, laptops and pcs use varying brands for their internals and just put their own make on the outside of the case. I spent a small fortune over the years constantly rebuilding my pc over the years which is probobly on the 2k range at the moment with the graffix card alone costing £600, the empty case is aluminium and stands as high as my waist and cost me £250 and that was empty with not even a power supply. It's paid for itself over the years though with me making a few bob repairing and fixing other peoples, well I do spend most of my bloody life sat infront of it ad I'm an input person I love learning

Lol Aldo Camper, I know it can be easily fixed but..... I'd just like to treat myself to a new lappy Apart from this one looking so tatty due to wear & tear, I'd have to by a new battery for it (approx £80) & a new mains charger (approx £40) - kitten chewed through the flex so it's spliced at the moment . So I would rather spend the extra & get a nice new shiny one

Bloody hell chrissie were you shopping for batts and charger?
New dell battery £25 and charger £7
Yes I know yours isn't dell but that's my point dells mass marketed so much cheaper.
Give me you make/model number and I'd find it cheaper

Another thing you may want to concider chrissie are E PAD, they're a direct rip off of the I PAD but much much cheaper. They have the android operating system on that most new smart phones use these days, the pad itself looks identical to an I PAD and does very much the same in use but cost around £130, I've also seen another thread on this forum entitled kindle and these E PADs can be used as an EBOOK reader aswell. Search on eBay as I can't give you a direct link off my phone.

Thanks Camper - really think an Ipad or Epad are going to be too small for me. So far in the 4 years I've had my lappy I haven't had to buy a new battery & Medion sent me a new charger under the 3 year warranty when the original ones flex got squished. So not shopped for either - just googled a while back & found them at those sort of prices Make & model number is : - Medion 98200
