Thanks for all the replies. I bought the kit from UK ecig store which i thought was reputable. I saw them advertised on here. I did want to get it from Jason but he didnt have the silver colour in stock at the time. Chrissie recommended the Riva so i thought they would be ok. OH has done alll the fixing ideas such as cleaning it and also raising the pin. I think i will get her the Joytech and see how it goes. UKEcig are reputable and I've used them more than once in the past. There's no reason to think their batteries aren't genuine, as there's going to be duffs in most batches, and I think you only find out how good a vendor really is when stuff like this happens. Have you let them know that your battery has failed to meet expectations?

Only way to do it is find the reputable ones( can count on 1 hand at the moment), buy from them, find a new one try them, then find a new one try them, give them reputation, add them to the reputable ones etc etc. It's all about us(consumer) and we can be pandered too..ie we do have a say( can sway opinion) and in this current climate we do have a voice. If you think something should be cheaper then tell them, with your reason. If something is carp then Vendors need also to know that....and aswell if something is good give them the rewards... they are also learning.

I did email them at the time telling them we had tried fixing it but just got an email back telling us to do what we had already done. I am not accusing them of being shoddy at all. In my OP i meant how does a seller even know if they have knock offs or the real thing?

In my OP i meant how does a seller even know if they have knock offs or the real thing? Did you get back in touch and tell them that these 'fixes' hadn't worked?

The genuine Joytech have this on the base , see the pink & silver battery ends. will try and find a clearer photo I have that on the base of my Twists and my Ego mod. It's not on any ego/Riva batteries that I have considering that my collection of Ego/Riva batteries were bought almost a year ago now and from various vendors, I'm wondering if this symbol on the base is a new thing?

joytech website link www.joyetech.com/product/details.php?gno=108if you see the small picture on the right hand side, you can see the ego badge on the base of the battery. generally imo i have found vendors advertise genuine joyetech as 'genuine' added to their write up's on their websites, if it says just ego-t , then there not genuine, but to be honest, ive brought genuine and just ego-t listed batteries and i would buy genuine for that little bit extra cash, but im not putting down the non genuine because ive never had a problem with both of them, the main thing is buying from a good vendor that would deal properly with returns.

The Riva's are not made by Joytech, so they won't have their mark on them. Some of them have "RIVA" engraved on the side of the connector.
