I would like to write. Local MP, Euro MP, Prime Minister, all of them.
However, forgive me for being hopeless, but I it would help greatly to know the full details of the proposed "ban" and the timeline for this to be passed into European Law.
We are all moving in the same direction on this, yes?
is this what I need to focus on?

3.7. Nicotine containing products (NCP) NCP fall outside the scope of Directive 2001/37/EC and Member States have so far taken different regulatory approaches to address these products, including regulating them as medicinal products, applying certain provisions that are used for tobacco products or having no specific legislation. The proposal stipulates that NCP that either have a nicotine level exceeding 2 mg, a nicotine concentration exceeding 4 mg per ml or whose intended use results in a mean maximum peak plasma concentration exceeding 4 ng per ml may be placed on the market only if they have been authorised as medicinal products on the basis of their quality, safety and efficacy, and with a positive risk/benefit balance 24 . NCP with nicotine levels below this threshold can be sold as consumer products provided they feature an adapted health warning. The nicotine threshold identified in this proposal has been established by considering the nicotine content of medicinal products (Nicotine Replacement Therapies, NRTs) for smoking cessation which have already received a market authorisation under the medicinal products' legislation.

If so, I can do this.

I wrote to mine yesterday, just saying I was horrified about the chance of ecigs being lumped in with normal fags and the chance they may be banned etc.

Think I might send one to my MP too. Thanks for this I must remember not to just read the new topics, because there's always more than just that one page that shows. I would have missed this Bookmark the threads which interest you Comfrey & go to Preferences & select forum &/or email notification of updates.

Burnham is very much pro-ban on e-cigs. A major ANTZ... just thought I'd share. As luck would have it our MP is Andy Burnham (shadow health) who will quite happily stick it to Hunt regardless of topic. My OH helps out local labour party with leafleting etc, so has met the man a few times. Will get him to draft a letter - he's better at it than I am, not to mention he's horrified by the proposed EU ban as he's a non-smoker who's just watched me successfully quit cigs for the first time - ever!

is this what I need to focus on? - - - - 3.7. Nicotine containing products (NCP) ... That will do fine. If you want to mention it, the flavouring is also an issue - they are trying to prohibit the selling of nicotine containing products with characterising flavours” - which would include all fruit and confectionery flavours and possibly sweeteners. But the main point is just to reject the proposals for electronic cigarettes altogether, at least until we have more evidence and experience.

I only ask, just before I invest a long time preparing my letter. It appears to be. I've had out of office replies from the ones I used it to write to. As usual all MP's are on looong holidays before they go back to falling asleep in the commons.
