Hi all I am sitting in my hospital bed wanting a wee bit of your help please, what it is my lovely wife.Alison has said I have been offered some DPTD switches could some some one tell my if they are suitable for modding? They have 6 pins and the guy who is selling me them said that the 1st & 6th pin are the normal pins to hook things up to. I just don't want to waste my money if they are not N/O switches. So if someone has a bit of time on their hands I would appreciate it, my course of medication is for a week I will be glad not to have my head in a sick bowl LOL Take care cannot wait to get home and build something, part from fixing things ( mrL) lol Tony2

Tony, those are double pole double throw switches. They can be wired to use only one pole, but what you really want is a momentary switch or a single pole single throw switch.
A momentary switch is one that only activates, when you push the button, like a manual PV battery switch. Think of a single pole single throw switch as like a light switch. It stays on, until you turn it off. A double pole double throw switch can active two things, A or B.

Tony, As Jerry says above, they can be wired for single use only. In theory, any switch can be used for modding but imho, these *can* be used but are not suitable. Mometary switches (Push To Make) are the way to go - On/Off switches just mean that the user will leave the mod switched on and burn it out. Sean
