As title says, what is DEG, do any of our vendors/mixers use it in their e-juice and should I be trying to avoid buying juice if it contains it? Should I be concerned about this? Sorry, just unsure and want to know some facts...

I just googled it and I don't like the sound of it, but then again, I am an ignoramous when it come to anything scientific.
Says it is poisonous glycol, antifreeze and not very good to the kidneys! I am not scare-mongering here..just saying...
Perhaps someone with better understanding can clarify it's safety in vaping liquids.

Can I ask where you saw DEG cited in any formulations for e-juice? It's called diethylene glycol and in high enough concentrations can cause significant harm, however, to the best of my knowledge it isn't used in food or drug manufacture. I suspect someone may have confused it with Propylene Glycol (PG) which is used in e-liquids, as a food preservative and is present in the formulations of many drugs and medicines.

I just noticed that on a couple of sites selling juice they state that their juice DOES NOT contain DEG. (Which to me hints at the possibility that some may - I dunno). It seemed to be a valuable selling point so I thought I would see what it was. I don't know what it is, if it is used or not and what, if any, harm it could cause - I just wanted to see if someone on here with more knowledge could give some advice.

Diethylene glycol has, in the past, been used in juices. No responsible & reputable vendor would use it now but I wouldn't like to state the same for fly by night carboot/market stall cowboys.

A good reason for sticking to known vendors or those who clearly state it's not in their juices. Had no idea it had been used in the past.

I wonder if it is worth vendors posting stating they don't use it so there is no panic and buyers have knowledge of what they are buying is safe.

There's no need for panic. I doubt any of the vendors we know have used it since whatever bad publicity there was a few years ago. I can't see the advantage in listing the ingredients NOT contained I juices.

I don't think you need to worry dowden about the vendors on here or any other well known ones. As Clutter said, no responsible or reputable vendor would use it.

That's what I thought, didn't want to start a panic but when I saw a couple of vendors state that their juices DID NOT contain DEG, I wondered what it was and needed to find out what it was and if it was being used in some juices. Stick to known vendors on here and you'll be fine.
