Im looking for batteries for a mod i have just made. It is a simple mod with no protection circuitry. Do i need protected batteries or am i ok with the 'safer chemistry' like the efest IMR?

If the mod is purely mechanical then I'd opt for protected batteries

Is that because the IMR could discharge too low and damage the battery?

But make sure the protected battery has a decent power drain limit

Is that because the IMR could discharge too low and damage the battery? I think so I'm not the most technical person on this forum, you may have noticed! IMR or AW high drain batteries in electronic mods, protected batteries in mechanical mods! That's my motto even if I don't totally understand the reasons why

But if you use a kick in mech mod, doesn't that change things?

But if you use a kick in mech mod, doesn't that change things? It does dan but he's looking for 18500 batteries which means with a kick he would have to use 18350s

But if you use a kick in mech mod, doesn't that change things? The kick will turn a mech mod into an electronic mod and you shouldn't use protected batteries in an electronic mod. Blakey will you stop typing at the same time as me. even if you do give a better information

An AW 18500, 1500 mAh protected ICR will allow around 2.5-3 amps draw and is probably the most suitable one..
