Brands aside, I was fortunate enough to buy an iPad in May, but I think its horses for courses. ask yourself "what do I want/need one for"

Personally for me its the best purchase ive made in quite a few years regarding practicality, portability, ease of use, and the apps (both ios and android have many useful) have helped a few hobbies along nicely.

I had previously owned two laptops aswell as a desktop pc but could never fully justify the laptops, but a tablet is just right for non desktop stuff.

I think the best analogy is, the most important part of any PC/Tablet/Laptop is the screen, after all its what you look at 100% of the time, but if you only want to browse the web then you dont need the best available.


Edited to add, if you can afford the extra few quid, get a better make. like vaping gear, they all hold their value very well indeed and an upgrade is less painful.

I do need a fairly decent screen but only for e-books & forums, don't do any kind of gaming, don't need super high end but still want something that isn't going to be obsolete in a couple of years. Quite like the look of the one stamina put up.

Perhaps go for a company that would pursue the interests of the buyer in making firmware upgrades fairly quickly, the only thing that swayed me from android was the vast amount of makes / variety available yet they werent all or couldnt be upgraded to, the latest operating system the maker has. Im not an apple fanboy, i just sound like one.

I agree, its a niche market (for wannabe trendy fuddyduddies like me), but im not suggesting buy an i' anything, just buy a tablet that has the latest version of android and is likely to be quickly upgraded when the next version arrives, kinda futureproof yourself as much as you can with your budget.

Watch when you look at tablets some use the android system,but there not licensed to use Android apps and can only use there own apps,and will not upgrade

That's the place I was looking at but my price is showing as £119
The delivery options are pretty good as well so think this is the one, now just need to sort out a cheap mobile internet deal to go with it.

Me and the wife have one of THESE each, Excellent for reading books and surfing and some pretty decent apps are making their way over. Perfect size as well and a solid bit of kit, good specs as well.

The kids have one of THESE each and they are very happy with them (after I put Google Playstore on them)
