Ideally the spring resistance should be negligable at around the 0.1 ohm mark. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I dont think I am far off the mark:)

That's about right. On the chrome Vamo I measured the spring resistance at 0.3Ω, not a huge figure but significant. When I replaced the spring the cap heating disappeared. On the SS Vamo, which I don't have so can't test, the resistance would appear to have been higher as there were a lot more reports of hot bottoms In both the electrical connection is only by the pressure of the spring, the surface resistance of the cap could have an influence on the total resistance.

Personally I think the vamo should be supplied with some liquid nitrogen so we can cool the spring enough to turn it into a super conductor.

I have never had any problem with the cap getting warm on my chrome Vamo, I am still using the original tiny spring as supplied.

I stretched my spring quite early on and I can put any kind of battery in it without disconnects. It is the smaller spring as well. There is a difference of a quarter of an inch between the longest and shortest batteries I have. Fixed any sideways rattle with a couple of turns of sellotape around the top and bottom of the batteries., while being VERY careful that they didn`t bind when being inserted.

I use the Panny 18650 and AW 18350. Never had a disconnection yet

I used the spring out of a torch I bought in the £ shop. Not had a problem since.

Mine used to rattle and the bottom get hot, this must also drain your battery quicker, so that's not good, fitted a SB hot spring, I think it should be called a cool spring as now no rattle, not turning off and the bottom does not get hot, s'all good.
