So I have a bunch of Kanger T3 clearos from Liberty Flights. Several are in use by hubby and me, another 5 are still unused. All the used ones were fine to begin with, a little muted perhaps, but after a little while (less than 1ml) they started to taste bad.
The worst is one with Lemon Meringue Pie in it, it tastes as though the flavouring is dissoving the metal - although I can't see any pitting on the insides. I've washed this one out several times and it's still tasting vile, even though it's had less than 1.5ml through it. I'm not having this issue with the same juce in a Vivi Nova though.
Other flavours tasting bad are Peppermint Licorice and Italian Cake, they are slightly different "bad" tastes but are still yuk - and neither has had more than 1ml through it. Again I'm not having this problem with the same juice in other types of clearo (Vision Rainbow rebuildable for the Italian Cake and mini Nova for the Peppermint Licorice).
Do I need to do something with these to make them taste "normal", is this a problem anyone else has had, what am I doing wrong? I know lots of people here love Kangers, but I've not heard of this happening before. Help!
ETA: these should all be 2.4-2.6 ohm, I'm using them on standard Ego batts as they don't fit on the Vamo and don't work on the mini Argento. The bad taste isn't a burnt taste, and starts out tasting fine for the first half mil or so anyway.

Probably badly coiled with parts of the coil not making contact with the wick or poor quality wicks or the wick is constricted in some way resulting in glowing coils once the juice level gets low the pressure is less and that may be why you are getting a funky metallic taste..
When you get the bad taste look down the mouthpiece center tube in a dark room with juice in the tank and fire the battery you have them on to see if you can make out the coils glowing or glimpse backlight of glowing coils..If they are, then only way out is to rewick & coil the heads yourself.

I have struggled with T3s from the very start. I loved them at first, then found I got the spicy-harsh-vapes too soon. I pulled the centre tube from the base, checked the coil and found rather too much dark gunk for my liking. I get this with all clearomisers, especially T3 and CE5, less so with mini nova. The problem, for me, is that dry burning a T3 is such a pain. a) you've got to pull out the tube. b) they come with 2 small stands of wick above the coil, which mostly cannot be washed and re-fitted. c) They are far more fiddly to re-wick than the others, when the coil is not saveable.
Basically, I vape too fast and even a bottom coil doesn't get quite enough juice. I tried NOT using the extra strands - that improved the taste no end, but then they leak. I tried various widths of wick, some fairly successful, others not so. Although the T3 is a always "in the juice" the wick doesn't seem to have quite enough moisture. Messing around, I either got them too fluid-ey or with a strangled wick. I've given up. As you say, it's not a burnt taste, more a harsh/dry vape.

The T2 with the long wicks are better IMO. If you find the T3 gives a bad taste turn the little rubber bung that's above the wick upside down so it isn't touching the wick it seems to give a better draw and any small bubbling will pass after a few draws. Hope this helps.

Thanks chaps.
Macca - no glowing, tank is mostly full - the level is a couple of mm below the top metal band and at the top of the guage (2.6ml). It started completely full and has not been refilled, so it's had 0.4ml through it.
djs - It's not harsh/dry, it just tastes yuk. Oddly, my Nova with Lemon Meringue Pie in it is just starting to taste bad now, but it's had something like 10-15ml through it over a period of maybe 3 weeks tops. The Kanger started tasting awful after a couple of hours and less than 1ml. Hubby vapes too fast, which could explain it (it's his Kanger with the LMP) but this doesn't explain my Peppermint Licorice or my Italian Cake, both of which have been filled for less than 2 days, have had less than 1ml through them and aren't vaped fast.
In a nutshell, the juice tastes tainted - not harsh, dry or burnt. More like there's something nasty in the Kanger itself which is leeching into the juice.

Thanks so much Taz, both my Peppermint Licorice and Italian Cake are now tasting how they ought to. Will upend the bung on all of them. Can't thank you enough - I was going to bin the lot and replace with Rainbows and/or Novas, so you've saved me a fair few pennies!

I've just tried it too Do I have to go and get mine out of the "saved for the poor and needy vapers of this world" box? I thought I'd given them up. > Still, it's good news for all the MT-3 buyers in the Co-op. It's like my gran used to say. "Always turn over your bungs" . . . . . . or was that Buns....

I'm guessing if the rubber bung wasn't there then you'd suck up a lot of juice lol
