Then there's this, which is a much cheaper alternative, but need one of you very clever people to work it out, it's far too technical for a numpty like me

I'm sure if someone could come up with something it would make our lives much easier

Ive heard of a guy using an adapted disposable camera flash electronics to do the same. Far too deep for me, looks like a life of twisting for me

Yes the adapted disposable camera thing is what I hope one of our very clever members will be able to understand. I've read the whole thread but can't get my head around it LOL!

I did have a couple of thoughts about the camera flash welder, you could add a simple timer circuit instead of a charge button, this would allow for the charging of the cap more precisely so using something like a 555 timer chip instead of guessing x seconds holding a button down to charge the cap to the correct voltage. or option 2 would be to a voltage monitor circuit to the output to stop charging when the cap is charged to the correct voltage. Also it May be better to mount 2 terminals to hold the wires to be welded onto the box lid rather than trying to touch them together with croc clips.

Made a simple version tonight and it works, tested it outside a box only and now put it inside a box and waiting for some epoxy to dry and i'll post a couple of pics tomorrow and info of what hardware used. This one as no off switch, it as a momentary button for charging the capacitor and 2 pins outside the box for connecting crocodile clips/cables.
I have another board, box and some other hardware so going to make an improved version with on/off switch, led's and hopefully a discharge button.
