I have been feeling very sorry for my little menagerie of wild birdlife. My favourite is Bernard the blackbird who has been chirping at me all day from the magnolia tree. No worms to be had in all this snow. I have a bag of bird seed and meal worms. Mr Dolly is working today so even though i am not too great on my feet, I decided to venture outside to the patio and leave some food for Bernard and his mates. I put a lovely big pile on a tea plate, opened back door, made it down first step then slipped, fell over backwards and showered myself in bird seed!!!! Being disabled i couldn't get up To add insult to injury a robin and a pigeon swoop down and start lapping up the seed all around me. I gave them a piece of my mind, yes, you do feel stupid telling a pigeon to p*ss off whilst trying to get a grip on the concrete! I just didn't know what i was going to do as i thought i would not be able to get to my feet so i started shouting out to see if my neighbours could hear me. No such luck I am laughing now, but at the time i sat there thinking Mr Dolly would come home tonight and find me frozen solid with a blackbird asleep on my head Suffice to say, i eventually managed to drag myself to the outside wall of the house and get hold of the door handle hauling myself up. NOTE TO SELF.... IN FUTURE BUGGER THE BIRD SEED WHEN SNOWING!!!

Oh my Nicki, leave dancing on ice to the professionals,
I do hope you're ok and haven't done too much damage to yourself
Cheeky pigeon and robin though

blownupdollsicle...pmsl I'll be ok BC. Got a very sore bum and back pain, but i always got that anyway. I shall definitely just throw it out the door in future, but i was worried they wouldnt find it under all the snow. Oh well. The most exciting Sunday i've had in a while

I really hope you're OK, you silly bint! Get yourself a long Helping Hands grabstick & some plastic bowls or just chuck it on the snow, they will find it. I love the cheekiness & bravery of your birds though. lol

One of them is an expert stalker and has already bought 2 birds in here last year. I usually put the plate of seed out when i know all the cats are indoors and bring the plate back in when i let them out.

You mean silly OLD bint Jess Nah, I didn't want to insult you! So plastic bowls & a grabstick then, that's how I do it. Hope your mum is OK too, BC, that will have shaken her up.

Och no poor you dolly ...hug I did that once in my smoking days...Only I got a free first class upgrade for it I was putting my tabby ends out by the budleia (sorry don't know how to spell it) and I slipped and popped my knee. Ma didn't even hear my cries for help. It was new year's eve about 9.30am..So off to A+E and these were the days where they popped you in pot for 4 weeks (now you just get a splint) So 4 days later I'm enroute back up north and I get as far as Grantham and the Grantham to york train is cancelled (And I was laden and on on sticks) so the next train is the London train making an sos stop at Grantham. Thinking 'what do I need - cigs (cos you could still smoke on gner back then) or food' I chose food and lined myself up with the buffet car.... I got the wrong side (like the first class side ) and the guard took one look at me and said 'you're not going very far like that. Pop into first class lassie'..'och aye' I said... We were 1.5 hours delayed at Newcastle so I even got free food... Ma was panicking that I was home late (due to the delay...this was pre mobiles)...I'm like 'chill I've been in first class since Grantham'
