Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping To avoid disappointment here's a couple of quick tips: 1. Have a back up! - If your clearomiser/cartomiser/Vivi Nova or tank stops working tomorrow or the Wife/Husband/Dog stands on it and breaks it could you wait for 24 - 36 hours to get a replacement? What will you do till then? Back on the stinkies? 2. Maintenance, you should periodically clean the threaded terminals on your battery, a piece of kitchen roll will do, better is a alcohol wipe. And DON'T forget the terminals on your charger too! 3. Most Clearomisers and Vivi Nova's last longer and perform better if you give them a rinse out periodically, hot (not boiling) tap water will do, NO DETERGENT. If you're really fastidious you could use a denture cleaning tablet or some bicarbonate of soda. Give them a soak then a rinse, a shake out and if you can wait for it to dry you can, or you can just fill it up and wait till the water boils off the coil before the taste comes through properly again. 4. Clearomisers (Vision Ego's) and Vivi Nova types can be bought back to almost 100% by DRY BURNING - NOT CARTOMISERS! If you want to know more JUST ASK 5. Finally: Please Please Please, if you have a question or don't understand something JUST ASK it's what we're here for. We all (including me) started just like you the only silly question is the one you don't ask. Thankyou

A back up charger is also handy as I found out when mine blew on a Saturday morning. Dave

About dry burning - there's vids where the burning makes the coil glow red, but when I do that it starts to go pongy (as in burnt pong) long before it goes red, should I carry on till it's frying?

Keep doing it in short 5 second bursts the letting go of the button, eventually it will glow red after a few times although if the clearo has been well used it may take quite a few times before it glows red straight away.

Yes Dave, that's the point, the "pongy smoke" is the carbon deposit burning off it's this that chokes the coil, press for 10 seconds then let it cool, a few seconds (or blow on it). Keep going until the smelly smoke stops, the you know all the gunk has been burnt off. BTW you have taken the silicon cap off the top of the tube haven't you? (I assume it's a CE3/4/5 or Vivi Nova coil you're doing?)

6. Don't throw anything away without asking first. The chances are there's a quick fix that someone can explain to you. If not, another vaper may appreciate the item for modding, repairing, or tinkering with. Some kind member may even offer to repair it for you and return it working again.

One day I shall be offering a massive goody-bag of usable stuff I can't be arsed to fix. It'll contain at least half a dozen Kanger T3s.
