Not doing so well with e ciggies Tried for 4 days so far. Yesterday, not realizing, I had the e cig going in one hand & a silk cut in the other Does anyone manage to smoke/vape 50% cigarettes & 50% e cig ?? - Idea being to reduce smoking cigarettes by half. Other probs - one of the e cigs is constantly wet at the top which gives a pretty strong taste on the lips - not the best. Seem to cough with the e cig!! (Actually don't when I smoke!) Having caught up on posts I feel I must say I had not realized when I registered that there was a member with a similar name. I've been known as magic for quite a long time on several different sites. I wasn't aware of magicma, MM :-[ :-[ Sorry for any toes trodden on.

Poor Magic Some of us here bought their e-cigs with the idea of cutting down a bit and ended up on e-cigs full time. Do not worry, do not pressure yourself, just "count the cigarettes you DON'T smoke" (that's our mantra ). I am concerned about the coughing though, because my SO has the same reaction and I haven't found a solution yet. He's not willing to give e-cigs a real try because of it. I'll check on your other posts to see what you're using, in the meantime perhaps you could detail your hardware and juice (if any) and where you got it, in this thread. "Constantly wet"? Sometimes over-filled carts can result in juice coming out thru the little hole in the end. I agree that juice on the lips is not nice at all > I keep tissues handy. If the carts are the type with a slit rather than a pinpoint hole for vaping thru, they tend to be more prone to leakage. But it does sound like overgenerous filling - blot some away? E-cig plus Silk Cut? Lol, we've all been caught out, like flicking into an ash-tray, trying to light up While you're having problems, just be very laid back - but, as one of our dear members used to say "Persist, persist, persist" It may be easier for rollie smokers like me cos we're used to faffing around (or I was, anyway). Back later Later... I expect you got the DSE901 (OKS or e-cigs.co.uk?) but am not sure what you ended up with, e-cig or juice-wise. scylla

Hi Magic, don't worry about the name - I am usually MM or Ma (or whatever Scyll feels like calling me) anyway. But it was a bit of a shock when 'Magic' suddenly appeared on post titles - I wondered what the heck I had been gabbling on about!!!! I am one of the norty ones!! I keep lapsing back to rollies!! I'm fine with the ecigs when I am out, even all day, but once home - I roll-up!! Not all the time though. It would help if the shops weren't so near and I couldn't pop out for 'small GV please'!!! MM Anyway keep going.

Ooooo - Thank you ladies All warm inside now Scylla, you're very kind, looking up old post etc - thanks I bought the 510 as well as 901 so I could cover my options & have several "ready for action" (I'm out a lot of the day and often work late!) On the leaky 901 I'm still using pre filled carty things so don't know why it leaks so much. They came in a mix of low, med & high. I did buy a kind of variety pack of small size euro juice but am concerned 18 strength I've got will make coughing worse & prob should have a mild strength. Still unclear whether to drip onto atom' bit or into wadding in cartridge. My original hope was to reduce ciggies - - to half would be fab. Will persevere tho for now but struggling. Scylla, I think I may like the avatar :-[ -'course it would help if I knew what what it was Very sure it's a lovely idea, or you wouldn't think of it Magicma, I'm still blushing :-[ I should have checked - really didn't cross my mind Shall I rename myself "scatter brain" BTW - anyone know if e cigs are ok for inpatients in hospital? - I've been asked by a fascinated & tempted friend PS - Why doesn't it say "NEW" in front of this post on the general board?

Regarding vaping in hospitals, it will depend upon the attitude of the hospital management itself, so just ask. I never intended to give up smoking my beloved 'rollies' anyway even though I knew I should cut down as I was smoking really heavily. Having tried and failed miserably with all the other available products, a friend gave me an e-cig on Dec 5th last, as an early Christmas present, so I thought I'd give it a go to help cut down a bit. I've not had an ordinary cig since then. I often get a juice leak into my mouth, generally when the battery's getting low if not from overfilling. Try keeping the tip pointing downwards and see if that helps. Don't get disheartened; just think of all the 'nasties' you're not ingesting and that each ordinary cigarette you replace is one more step forward. Good luck Fox

On the leaky 901 I'm still using pre filled carty things so don't know why it leaks so much... ...Still unclear whether to drip onto atom' bit or into wadding in cartridge. They can still have been overfilled. Also, as we have been discussing elsewhere, the carts with a teeny slit in the "cap" are more prone to letting juice thru than the ones with a pinhole. I'm using slitty ones at the mo and have to be careful. Hold the e-cig pointing downwards a bit, as said. Get a bottle of Vegetable Glycerine from the chemist or supermarket (very cheap), and dilute the 18mg with it - it will not only lower the mg (and weaken the flavour unfortunately) but I'm hoping it will "soften" the vape so you don't cough. As I said, I'm already suffering second-hand from the problem because SO's got it (and anything SO "gets", he makes me suffer ) You can, and that's the name that would appear against your posts, but you would have to sign in with your original sign-up name. I'll look it up, just in case Chrissie can't get back here for a while she abbreviated my name for me, it was scyllabub. Keep yer pecker up {{{Magic}}} scylla

Scyll, please don't let Magic change her name - it is not a problem for me. I only post about stupid things anyway so you would know it's not the other 'Magic'. And, of course, my silly Smilies!! MM
