the EU Tobacco Products Directive, particularly on the issue of
electronic cigarettes.

I note your opinions, from your own personal experience as an electronic
cigarette user, and understand that you believe there to be benefits in
using an electronic cigarette as an alternative to a conventional
tobacco cigarette.

I will take your views into account as the debate in the European
Parliament on E-cigarettes progresses, ultimately seeking a balanced
position that takes into account scientific health assessments and the
legitimate concerns of E-cigarette consumers.

I'm seeing all this as positive because these guys had no idea that us 'vapers' existed before we started writing to them!

some follow up from us, so as they realise we will not be going away may make them think about the votes they could loose and the scandal that would be caused if we were forced back to smoking by their stupid 4mg max strength proposal!

In light of this article in the Sunday Herald - 25th November 2012, these answers may be meaningless.

Scotland is to become "smoke-free" under ambitious plans being drawn up by Government ministers.

The SNP is to unveil its radical proposal to effectively end tobacco consumption in Scotland over the next two decades.

At the moment, New Zealand and Finland are the only other countries to have set the goal of becoming smoke-free by a particular date – 2025 and 2040 respectively.

The SNP, which is due to announce the ambition in the new year, has yet to fix a precise date for making the nation smoke-free – but it is expected to be in broadly the same time frame.

Internationally, it is generally considered that a smoking rate of less than 5% of the population is considered to be "smoke-free".

Campaigners said aiming to have a smoke-free Scotland by the early 2030s would be an "ambitious but realistic" aim.
